Cost is $12. Proceeds benefit missions.
Flea Market Extravaganza
Aug. 21, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Chesterland Historical Village will host its annual flea market where bargain hunters can find vintage jewelry, old and new books, housewares, glassware, kitchen items, clothing, crafts, toys, antiques, yard art, painted furniture and more. The event also includes music and food.

Entry fee of $3 supports the upkeep of the historical village located at the corner of Caves and Mayfield roads in Chester Township.
Free Fresh Produce

Newbury United Community Church will host a fresh produce giveaway at the church located at 14916 Auburn Road.
Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents the third Saturday of each month through October. Please bring ID and bags.
Twilight Soiree

The Foundation for Geauga Parks’ signature event, Twilight Soiree, returns to Big Creek Park Donald Meyer Center in Chardon Township.
The indoor/outdoor celebration of Geauga County’s parks and preserves features catered food, beverages, live entertainment by Neil Young tribute band Harvest, as well as a silent auction, Best of Geauga raffle and more.
Proceeds benefit Foundation programs and educational initiatives.

Chardon VFW Fish Fry

Chardon VFW will host a fish fry at the post located at 752 Water St. Enjoy a choice of white cod, Alaskan haddock or shrimp.

Munson Indoor Flea Market

Munson Township’s indoor flea market will be held at the Munson Town Hall & Fire Station Bay, 12210 Auburn Road. The $1 entrance fee for shoppers goes towards the Munson Township Scholarship Fund. Youth 12 and under are free.

Ice Cream Social

Munson Township residents are welcome to stop at the ice cream truck in the parking lot located at Munson Town Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. Enjoy a free ice cream while visiting with other residents. Stop by the indoor flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to find that special treasure.
Bainbridge Rox
Aug. 28, noon to 10 p.m.
Bainbridge Civic Club’s Ox Roast is now Bainbridge Rox, an all day event featuring live music, children’s entertainment area, a casino with a Texas Hold’em tournament, four different food trucks in addition to the BBC ox roast, a gourmet frozen desert offering and a beer tent.
The event takes place at Centerville Mills Park, 8558 Crackel Road in Bainbridge Township. There is no admission fee and parking is free.
Local businesses and artists wishing to promote their business and sell their arts, crafts and jewelry may set up an exhibition table for $50; contact Mark George at 440-591-1819.
Proceeds benefit student scholarships, Bainbridge Food for Friends food pantry and philanthropic donations to community programs.

Chagrin River Bird Quest
Sept. 10-11
The seventh annual team birding challenge supporting the Chagrin River Important bird area will be held 4 p.m. Sept. 10 to 4 p.m. Sept. 11.
There will be a pre-event birding workshop via Zoom on Aug. 25 where everyone can refresh their skills or learn new ones. Handouts will be sent on registration.
Teams may check in from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 10 at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township. Maps, checklists and T-shirts will be available.
Teams can be made up by families, friends, co-workers and classmates. They will explore the Chagrin River Valley from Lake Erie south to Audubon’s bird sanctuaries in the City of Aurora. They will be competing to find the most warblers, visit the most habitats or check off the most species overall. Teams can send pictures of their team birding throughout the day.

The event is sponsored by the Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland, the Blackbrook Audubon Society and Geauga Park District.
Geauga Veterans Sport Fest
Sept. 11, 3 p.m.
The third annual Geauga Veterans Sport Fest will be held at the Great Lakes Outdoor Supply parking lot at 14855 N. State Ave. in Middlefield.
The event will also commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Activities will include a 50-item raffle, local concessions, music, prizes and fireworks beginning at 8 p.m.
Admission is free. An optional ticket for $20 provides 50 chances to win items in raffle drawings. Prizewinners need not be present.
Raffle tickets are available to purchase at Great Lakes Outdoor Supply; the Chardon VFW Hall, 752 Water St.; the Middlefield VFW Hall, 16013 E. High St.; American Legion posts in Geauga County; and via the GeaugaVets.com website. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the event.
