Meal Delivery Volunteers Needed

The Geauga County Department on Aging is in need of Home Delivered Meal drivers in the Burton and Chardon areas.

The meal routes start at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive in Chardon..

The Home Delivered Meals program delivers warm, nutritious lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday to homebound seniors.

The department on aging is looking for area agencies, organizations, church groups and individuals 18 years old or over with a valid driver’s license. Training includes filing volunteer paperwork and a short orientation. Volunteers can deliver meals on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or as needed/substitute basis.

Food Pantry Friday

Aug. 27, 10 a.m. to noon

The food pantry at Chester Christian Center Church will be open to the community. The pantry is open to anyone who is in need of food. One does not need to be a member of the church to attend.

Chester Christian Center is located at 11815 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Chardon VFW Fish Fry

Aug. 27, 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Chardon VFW will host a fish fry at the post located at 752 Water St. Enjoy a choice of white cod, Alaskan haddock or shrimp.

Eat in or take out, cost is $10 for one main dish and two sides. Clam chowder is $4. For information, call 440-286-3699.

Munson Indoor Flea Market

Aug. 28, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Munson Township’s indoor flea market will be held at the Munson Town Hall & Fire Station Bay, 12210 Auburn Road.  The $1 entrance fee for shoppers goes towards the Munson Township Scholarship Fund. Youth 12 and under are free.

Vintage Car Truck And Tractor Show

Aug. 28, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Newbury Township hosts its fourth Vintage Car Truck and Tractor Show at Oberland Park, 14639 Auburn Center Road. All years and makes are welcome. Vehicle registration is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no registration or admission fee.

A free concert in the park starts at 7 p.m. with Shadow of a Doubt, a Tom Petty and Heartbreakers tribute band, performing.

Ice Cream Social

Aug. 28, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Munson Township residents are welcome to stop at the ice cream truck in the parking lot located at Munson Town Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. Enjoy a free ice cream while visiting with other residents. Stop by the indoor flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to find that special treasure.

Bainbridge Rox

Aug. 28, noon to 10 p.m.

Bainbridge Civic Club’s Ox Roast is now Bainbridge Rox, an all day event featuring live music, children’s entertainment area, a casino with a Texas Hold’em tournament, food trucks in addition to the BBC ox roast, a gourmet frozen desert offering and a beer tent.

The event takes place at Centerville Mills Park, 8558 Crackel Road in Bainbridge Township. There is no admission fee and parking is free.

Local businesses and artists wishing to promote their business and sell their arts, crafts and jewelry may set up an exhibition table for $50; contact Mark George at 440-591-1819.

Proceeds benefit student scholarships, Bainbridge Food for Friends food pantry and philanthropic donations to community programs.

Polka Party

LGRC Ride For Recovery

Sept. 12

Register for Lake-Geauga Recovery Center’s fifth annual Ride for Recovery. The ride starts and ends at Chardon office located at 209 Center St. Event now also includes a two mile fun walk along the Maple Highlands Trail.

Registration opens at 7 a.m. Cost is $30 per person.

Children must be 12 or older to ride. Children under 18 must have signed parental consent. Riders must wear helmets.
