Dorothy’s Porch Giveaway

Dec. 2 and 3, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A free community giveaway of clothing for the family, bedding, housewares, books, toys and Christmas items will be held at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon.

Tree Lighting on the Square

Dec. 2, 6:30-8 p.m.

Chardon Square Association will host the Christmas tree lighting on Chardon Square and the arrival of Santa on a horse drawn sleigh. The event includes performances by Geauga Music Center Band and Chardon High School Free Harmony.

Pilgrim Christian Church will serve a chili dinner from 5-7 pm.

Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce will serve hot cider, courtesy of Sage’s Apples, and cookies, compliments of Chardon Healthcare Center.

Entrepreneur Success Breakfast

Dec. 3, 7:30-9 a.m.

Join Geauga Growth Partnership for its Entrepreneur Success Breakfast at Elements Fitness, 8505 Mulberry Road in Chester Township. Lisa LaBlanc, founder and creator of Elements Fitness Studios, shares her story of how the business started, the challenges and opportunities presented in the current climate and plans for the future.

Breakfast With Santa

Dec. 4, 8:30-10 a.m.

Parkman Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Breakfast with Santa at the Parkman Community House, 16295 state Route 422. Bring a camera to take a picture with Santa Claus. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage and pancakes. Cost is $3 for kids and $5 for each accompanying adult.  For reservations, call Sandy, 440-548-5740, or Denise, 440-548-2939.

FGP Explorers Series

Dec. 4, 10:30 a.m.

Join Foundation for Geauga Parks to explore the grounds and popular camping areas of Chickagami Park, 17957 Tavern Road, Parkman Township. Meet in the parking area. Preregistration is not required.

Red Kettle Bell Ringing

The Geauga County Rotary members and Club Interact students from various local high schools will be ringing the bell and collecting to fill the red kettles that fund the Geauga County Salvation Army.

All money collected remains in Geauga County to aid and assist local residents.

The Red Kettles will be at Chardon Walmart and Giant Eagle on Dec. 4 and 11; Chesterland Drug Mart and Giant Eagle on Dec. 11 and 18; Burton Walmart, Bainbridge Giant Eagle and Chagrin Falls Starbucks on Dec. 11.

Geauga Skywatchers

Dec. 6, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Join Skywatchers for “Solstice Science” at Geauga West Library in Chester Township. Explore the science behind the fascinating natural phenomenon and see how cultures around the world have marked it.

Claridon Cookie Walk

Dec. 11, 9-11 a.m.

Claridon Congregational Church will hold its 21st annual cookie walk at the church located at the intersection of Mayfield and Claridon-Troy roads. A wide assortment of holiday cookies will be offered at $8 per pound; boxes provided. Masks are required. The church is handicapped accessible. All funds raised will support the restoration of the church sanctuary after the ceiling collapse in June.

GGP Holiday Networking Event

Dec. 9, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Geauga Growth Partnership will host its annual holiday member networking event at the Welshfield Inn, 14001 Main Market Road in Burton. Enjoy a cash bar, appetizers and raffle prizes. Call 440-564-1060 or email info@geaugagrowth.com to register.

Breakfast with Santa

Dec. 11, 8 a.m. and noon

The Chagrin Falls High School baseball team is hosting its annual Breakfast with Santa fundraising event in the middle school cafeteria. The 10 a.m. seating is sold out.

Enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes served by baseball elves, photos with Santa, seasonal crafts, a raffle for kids and silent auction. Kids may bring a written list to share with Santa.

Tickets are $13 per person and children under 2 are free. Presale tickets are available at: tinyurl.com/BWS21TIXTickets may be available at the door if the event is not sold out.

All proceeds benefit the high school baseball team.

Operation Santa Sleigh

Dec. 12, 10:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Officers from the Chester Township Police Department, their families and Santa will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for the 11th annual Operation Santa Sleigh at West Geauga Plaza. No toy guns, please.

All donated toys will be given to Geauga County Department of Job and Family Services to benefit local families.

Geauga Dems Holiday Party

Dec. 12, 2-4 p.m.

The Geauga Democratic Party will have its holiday party its headquarters located at 12420 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township. Visit with friends and talk about the upcoming midterm elections while enjoying coffee, tea and cookies.

Cardinaires Christmas Concert

Dec. 14, 12-1:30 p.m.

The annual Cardinaires Christmas concert and luncheon will be held at Mary Yoder’s Amish Kitchen in Middlefield. Doors open at 11:45 a.m.

Cost is $20 a person, which can be paid by cash or check at the door. Make checks payable to Middlefield Chamber of Commerce.
