Join to fill shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for the Samaritan’s Purse project during National Collection Week, Nov. 14-21.

Local collection sites include Chardon Christian Fellowship, 401 S. Hambden St., Chardon and Newcomb Road Amish, 15978 Newcomb Road in Middlefield. Collection hours vary by location.

Rummage Sale

Nov. 19, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pilgrim Christian Church on Chardon Square at 202 S. Hambden St. will hold a rummage sale in the church social hall. All kinds of items will be available. All proceeds of the sale will be donated to the Hurricane Ian relief effort.

Holiday Volunteers Needed

Geauga County Department on Aging needs volunteers Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24 and Christmas Day, Dec. 25 to deliver meals to area seniors who are alone for the holiday.

Volunteers will pick up holiday meals at the Chardon Senior Center, 470 Center St., Building 8 in Chardon, and deliver them to their assigned seniors’ homes.

Re-Shined Jewelry Party

Nov. 19, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., will host a re-shined jewelry party to benefit the Night to Shine event coming in February 2023.

Hundreds of gently used and new jewelry will be priced to sell as well as pieces for crafting, gifting, personal wear and more.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Geauga Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Support Network is hosting a ceremony and vigil in honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance at the Federated Church Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road, Bainbridge Township. Event partners include: The Community Life Collaborative, Federated Church’s Social Justice Ministry and East Shore Unitarian Universalist Church.

Family First Council

Geauga Family First Council meets the third Monday of the month at the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services building located on 13244 Ravenna Road in Chardon. Meetings are open to the public.

Christmas Lighting of the Square

Dec. 1, 5-7 p.m.

Chardon Square Association will host the lighting of Chardon Square park and the arrival of Santa on a horse drawn sleigh at 7 p.m. The event includes performances by Geauga Music Center Band at 6:30 p.m. and Chardon High School Free Harmony at 7 p.m.

Pilgrim Christian Church will serve a chili dinner from 5-7 pm. Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce will serve hot cider and cookies.

Chardon Square is located at the intersection of state routes 44 and 6.

Entrepreneur Success Breakfast

Dec. 2, 8-9:30 a.m.

Join Geauga Growth Partnership for its Entrepreneur Success Breakfast at Kent State University – Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road, Burton. Ted and Beth Bunton, of Troy Chemical Industries, will share the story of how their businesses started, when they took the reigns and their growth in the manufacturing of specialty chemical products for various industries throughout the nation.

Breakfast and networking begin at 8 a.m. Free and open to the public.

Annual Christmas Sale

Dec. 2 and 3, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Middlefield United Methodist Church will be hosting its annual Christmas sale at the church located at 14999 South State Ave., Middlefield. Parking is available behind the church.

There is a large assortment of new and gently used adult and children’s clothing, holiday dishes, books for all ages, DVDs, toys, stuffed animals, dishes, knick knacks, holiday decorations, puzzles, coats, purses and jewelry.

Cookie Walk

St. Luke Episcopal Church is hosting a cookie walk at the church located at 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Chardon. Select cookies and pay by the pound.

Breakfast with the Clauses

Dec. 3

Munson Township’s annual Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus takes place at the Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road.

Pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee will be served. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to12. Children under 3 are free.

Pictures with Santa will be available on a jump drive for $10, with proceeds going to Boy Scout Troop 91.
