Camp the Geauga County Parks
Camping out in four different parks within the Geauga Park District promises quality down time with friends and family. Cost is just $5 a night for county residents or $10 a night for out of county residents.
Big Creek Park, Headwaters Park and Chickagami Park all offer clean, well-maintained, reservable campsites in scenic locations. These include lean-tos, each with a fireplace in the chimney, which can accommodate up to five people, and tent pads, which provide comfortable, well-drained surfaces for tents.
Two brand new tent pads were also added this year in primitive, off-the-beaten-trail locations within The West Woods.
Camping reservations must be made at least seven days in advance of the visit. Non-reserved campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Prairie Flowers Picnic
Aug. 16, 10:30 a.m. to noon
Naturalist Judy Bradt-Barnhart will lead a nature hike and picnic program at Frohring Meadows. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the shelter after the leisurely stroll.
Learn strategies that prairie plants have developed to survive in their hot, dry environment. Some off-trail walking will occur to reach the more uncommon species, so long pants and close-toed shoes are recommended.
