Frozen Fest

Jan. 28, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Join Geauga Park District for its fourth annual Frozen Fest at The West Woods.

Free family activities include: live reindeer; famous winter princesses, winter snowman and reindeer herder with meet and greets throughout the venue and performances in the lobby; meet and greets with sled dogs from the Siberian Husky Club of Greater Cleveland; ornate face painting; indoor play feature; indoor craft; complimentary hot cocoa and cookies; ice carvings and demos; winter wildlife display and touch table; free snowshoeing, weather permitting; wigwam exploration; A Kid at Art mobile art bus; self-guided winter hiking and Bird in the Hand feeding station activity; live music; food for sale; nature-inspired art exhibit on display; and winter themed merchandise and nature gifts for sale in the Tree Tops Nature Store.

The nature center is fully wheelchair accessible. Due to the popularity of this event, however, strollers should be left outside.

The parking lots always fill quickly; overflow parking locations will be located at ASM and Teague Plaza, equipped with even more free shuttles than last year.

Partial Lunar Eclipse 

Jan. 31, 6:30-8 a.m.

A “blue moon” and partial lunar eclipse at the same time! Join for an early-morning glimpse of Earth’s shadow darkening its moon at Observatory Park, 10610 Clay St. In Montville Township. Cloudy skies will cancel the program; call 440-279-0820 to check the program’s status.

Nature Break: Women’s Retreat

Feb. 3, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Retreat to the park to re-energize and relax at The West Woods Nature Center. Activities include snowshoeing or walking, light aerobics, backyard birding, other nature-themed activities and a soup and salad lunch. Dress in layers with comfortable clothes for being outside and perhaps a change for aerobics. Registration and a $6 fee are required.
