Time For A W-A-L-K?

Dogs and their humans may join the park district for Hound Hikes this spring – no registration required. Participants of any hike will also get some tips from Cold Nose Companions Dog Training and take home a keepsake “Adventure Ready” dog scarf to remember it by.

Hound Hikes with naturalist Karie Wheaton are April 12, from 3-4:30 p.m. at Holbrook Hollows; May 10, from 9-10:15 a.m. at Orchard Hills Park; and June 29, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at Observatory Park.

Before coming out, pack a bowl with water, poop scoop or bags for cleanup and towels for paws. Only one dog is permitted to attend per handler; pets must be kept under control at all times on a leash not exceeding eight feet; and participants displaying aggression or excessive barking will be asked to leave.

Yarn Over” In The Park

April 14, 1-2:30 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m.

Celebrate spring and the colors of early spring wildflowers at Big Creek Park’s Deep Woods Lodge. Bring four colors of yarn that depict spring – pale yellow, pink, lavender, light blue or light green. Project details will be sent upon registration, or participants may bring their own projects to work on instead. Registration is required.

It’s An Egg-Stravaganza

April 18, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Go on an indoor/outdoor adventure to explore local wildlife and their eggs in this egg hunt with a nature twist at The West Woods in Russell Township. All participants ages 3 and up with an adult will be awarded fun prizes upon completion. Drop in anytime during program hours. Registration is required.
