The Big Tobacco Clean-Up
April 27, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Geauga Park District is partnering up with Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers Inc. and University Hospitals to clean littered tobacco products from the parks, and the community’s help is needed.
Join the initiative and register to meet at The West Woods for an introductory talk about what is being done and why. Then, volunteers will be sent out to different parks to clean up tobacco litter and other trash. Then everyone will reunite back at The West Woods at 1 p.m. with a wrap-up and some food.
Journaling the Great Outdoors
Writing, sketching and taking photographs can be relaxing, thought-provoking ways to reflect on the world around. Why not cast that reflection on the great outdoors and allow it to strengthen mindfulness and connection with nature?
The park district’s Nature Journaling series provides great inspiration to do just that. Participants will draw their inspiration from the weather around us at Observatory Park on May 4 from 1-3:30 p.m., and from life around the pond at Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve on June 8 from 1-3:30 p.m.
Beginners are always welcome. Call or email Naturalist Renell Roebuck ahead of time with questions at 440-226-2894 or rroebuck@geaugaparkdistrict.org.
Scout Days
Dress for the weather and explore Geauga parks to earn scouting credit.

Then, on May 4 at Swine Creek Reservation, Tiger Cub Scouts will meet at the Woods Edge Shelter to complete My Tiger Jungle in a discovery program held entirely outdoors from 9:30-11 a.m. Brownies will meet at the Lake Side Shelter to work toward their Brownie Bugs Badge outside with a naturalist from 1-3:30 p.m.
Registration for Scout Days is only required for scouts, but please note that an adult leader must always also attend.
