Free Snowshoe Borrowing
First-come-first-served snowshoe borrowing is back at The West Woods in Russell Township, and it’s still free for Geauga County residents.
At least four inches of suitable snow are required. Conditions can be checked for zip code 44072 or by calling the park district. Availability may be confirmed by phone; however, reservations are not accepted.
Snowshoes may be borrowed for up to two hours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and must remain within The West Woods. Borrowers must be 18 or older to sign the loan, complete a waiver and leave a driver’s license. Youth sizes are available; children must be accompanied by an adult.
Naturalist-led pop-up snowshoe programs are also offered when conditions allow. Visit the park district website under Programs & Events and select Snowshoeing to join the call list for notifications.
