Polliwog Paddle Family Canoe
Aug. 27, 2-4 p.m.
Registration is open by phone only for an easy-paced, short-distance, free family outing on the tranquil, wildlife-rich waters of the Upper Cuyahoga River.
The gentle canoeing experience launching and landing from the banks of Eldon Russell Park is designed for families with young children. No formal canoe-handling instruction will be given, but tips will be offered as needed; rudimentary skills are expected of parents.
Canoe capacity is set as two adults with up to two kids ages 5-11 in the middle. Children must be 10 or older to paddle. Adults with children will receive priority over adults without them.
Dancing Under The Stars
Sept. 2, 7-9:30 p.m.
Enjoy an evening of salsa and rumba dance instruction under the stars at Observatory Park. Registration is required, with a $10 fee that includes light snacks, for instruction and demonstrations until 8 p.m. by Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Chagrin Falls, followed by open floor dancing.
Instruction will include the rotation of partners, so no partner is necessary to enjoy the evening. Activities will be canceled in the case of severe weather.
