Community Picnic Sunday
It sounds like our 30th will be the best picnic yet.
Outback Ray will be performing his animal show and Banjo the Clown will be making his balloon creations. Music will be provided by the Red Dust Mountain Boys.
Our fire department will be putting on a jaws of life demonstration and, new this year, there will be a photo booth to help us remember our special picnic with a picture.
We will be giving away a quilt, made by Fiscal Officer Laura Chorman, to a Hambden veteran at the picnic again this year. Please be sure to sign up for the” Veterans’ Quilt Drawing” when you arrive at the picnic on Sunday and thank you to Laura for once again donating a quilt to one of our deserving veterans.
There will also be a cakewalk, pie eating contest, lots of childrens’ games and, of course, our ever popular Chinese auction.
There will also be great things to eat. Our firefighters will be cooking and selling hamburgers and hot dogs, and the Grange will have water, soda, ice cream and cotton candy for sale.
The township will be giving away popcorn and sno cones, and to commemorate our 30th anniversary picnic, we’ll have a special dessert for everyone.
There are also great door prizes for Hambden residents, ranging from an overnight at Geneva State Park Lodge to gift cards for groceries and video games.
If you have something you would like to donate to our Chinese auction, just contact me or call the township hall at 440-286-4364 and we can arrange to have it picked up.
This year, we have placed signs at all of our developments and in areas for residents who don’t pass the park to see the sign there. We don’t want anyone to miss this year’s picnic.
Red Dust Mountain Boys
Just a little info on the Red Dust Mountain Boys, who will be performing at our picnic on Sunday.
They are a traditional bluegrass band from northeastern Ohio consisting of a banjo, mandolin, guitar, bass and dobro. They use all acoustic instruments the way the original artists performed their songs did.
They’ve been together since 2006 and before they knew it found themselves developing a following with their great style of music.
We look forward to hearing them on Sunday.
Township Meetings
Just a reminder that your board of trustees meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the township hall.
We really value our residents’ input and hope that you will attend our meetings.
Now that this year’s paving project has been completed, our road crew is busy working on roadside mowing, our township park and road patching projects.
If you have any questions or concerns, we really want to hear from you and want you to know that we are doing all we can to make your township a great place for you to live.
Our next project is construction of a salt storage shed. This will allow us to buy much larger quantities of salt at a much lower price and make sure we always have it on hand when needed.
It can be very hard to get if you run low in the middle of winter. Construction should begin in late August.
