Pancakes at the Grange

Hambden Grange 2482 will serve its all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts March 15 and 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Breakfast will include pancakes with maple syrup, corn fritters, fruit, sausage, juice, cocoa and coffee. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.

The Grange is located at 9778 Old State Road.

Spring Trash Day

Spring Trash Day will be held April 25 at the township park from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Appliances, building materials, lawn equipment and miscellaneous items will be accepted.

The township cannot take garbage, yard waste, hazardous chemicals or paint cans. The township is hoping to once again recycle tires; it has applied for the tire grant and will keep the community posted.

Habitat for Humanity will once again have a truck present for donations of clean household items in good repair, furniture that has no stains or tears, building materials, light fixtures, bath or kitchen fixtures and miscellaneous items.

Trash day is for Hambden residents only. Residents may be asked for I.D.

For more information, call Lauri or Mary Ann the township hall at 440-286-4364.

Computer Recycling

There is a container for computer recycling located at the township park. When bringing items there to be recycled, please only leave them if there is room in the recycling box.

The township has just been informed that it can no longer take televisions for recycling. Televisions will be taken at trash day, however. Thanks for your help with this.

Hambden PTO Reverse Raffle

Hambden PTO will be hosting its third annual reverse raffle fundraiser on March 21 at Fowler’s Mills Golf Course. The adult only event will take place from 611 p.m.

Tickets are $100 per couple and $60 for a single ticket. The price includes dinner, open bar, sideboards, Chinese, silent and live auctions, entertainment and a chance at the $1,500 grand prize.

For more information, contact Joleigh Burnett at joleigh23@windstream.net.

Township Hall Rentals

If anyone is interested in renting the hall for a gathering, please call administrative assistant Mary Ann Dottore Tuesday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. You can also leave her a message and she will get back to you the next business day.

Lately, there has been a real problem with persons renting the hall leaving cigarette butts in the area near the side doors. We realize that the smoking area is across the parking lot, but this is the only area where smoking is permitted and there is a receptacle there for disposing of cigarette butts.

The rental agreement has recently been amended to provide that if the road crew has to clean up this area after use because of this problem, the $100 security deposit will be forfeited.

Please read the agreement carefully when renting the hall and abide by all regulations. We want to keep it available for our residents, but the road crew is small and they don’t have time to clean up after rentals. The hall is only available for rent to Hambden Township residents.

Birthdays

Happy birthday wishes go out to former Hambden Trustee Bill Gertz on March 15.
