Community Picnic
It sounds like Hambden’s 30th will be the best picnic yet. Outback Ray will be performing his animal show and Banjo the Clown will be making his balloon creations. The fire department will be putting on a jaws of life demonstration and new this year, there will be a photo booth to help everyone remember the special picnic with a picture.
There will also be a cakewalk, pie eating contest and the popular Chinese auction. There will also be plenty of great things to eat. The firefighters will be cooking and selling hamburgers and hot dogs, and the Grange will have water, soda, ice cream and cotton candy for sale. The township will be giving away popcorn and sno cones and to commemorate Hambden’s 30th anniversary picnic, there will be a special dessert for everyone.
The Chinese auction could use the community’s help. We are looking for donations of new items or gift cards to place in the auction. If residents have something they would like to donate, just contact me or call the township hall at 440-286-4364 and we can arrange to have it picked up.
This year, we will be placing signs at all of the developments and in areas for residents who don’t pass the park to see the sign there. We don’t want anyone to miss this year’s picnic. Hope to see you at the township park on Aug. 9 from 1-5 p.m.
Township Meetings
Hambden Township Board of Trustees meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the township hall. Trustees value the residents’ input and hope that you will attend our meetings.
Now that this years’ paving project has been completed, the road crew is busy working on roadside mowing, the township park and road patching projects. If you have any questions or concerns, we really want to hear from you and want you to know that we are doing all we can to make your township a great place for you to live.
The next project is construction of a salt storage shed, which will allow us to buy much larger quantities of salt at a much lower price and make sure there is always enough on hand when needed. Salt can be very hard to get if you run low in the middle of winter. Construction should begin in late August.
Happy Fourth of July
We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable 4th of July holiday. Here’s hoping that we might even get a little sunshine.
