Happy St. Patrick’s Day
Erin go bragh — Ireland forever.
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a corned beef and cabbage dinner at St. Patrick’s Church, 16550 Rock Creek Road in Thompson on March 23, after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. Purchase tickets for the dinner after Masses and at the door. There will be food, fellowship and a 50/50 raffle.
I started wearing my shamrock earrings already as a descendant of the Malloys from County Mayo in Ireland.
Best wishes to all on this very special day that celebrates the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland (A.D. 385-461).
Cleveland Parade
The parade will start at 2:04 p.m. at Superior Avenue and E. 18th Street in Cleveland on Sunday. It was 146 years ago that the parade was born and is today the third largest in the country.
The two-mile route will see marchers, parades, service men and women, dignitaries and wolfhounds marching for more than two hours.
Craft and Collectible Show
Berkshire High School gym will open its doors March 17 and 24 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to a craft and collectible show of handcrafted jewelry, quilting items, vintage and antique collectibles, Tupperware, Avon products and much more.
Proceeds benefit the American Legion Post 459 in Burton and Berkshire High School organizations.
Stop by for a great pancake breakfast at the school located at 14510 N. Cheshire St. in Burton and enjoy good food and great products that benefit so many.
Kiwanis Maple Products
Chardon Kiwanis maple products are available on weekends. Stop by the Log Cabin on Chardon Square to taste some delicious maple candy cotton, maple products and friendly Kiwanis smiles.
The Sugar House will also be open to view the boiling of the sap and the annual event of enjoying a maple stir.
Pasta for Puppies
LeaderDogs for the Blind’s first annual Pasta for Puppies will be held March 25 from 5-9 p.m. at the Stadium Bar and Grill, 8330 Tyler Blvd. in Mentor. The all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will provide funding to support puppy raising and Leader Dogs for the Blind. Donation is $10. There will also be a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle.

Comment For The Day
I am grieving for the passing of Hilda Nikkila who went to meet her Lord on Saturday. She was surrounded by her dedicated daughters, Molly and Jane.
She was blessed with wonderful and loving care and I enjoyed her company throughout the winter months as we watched the birds fill the bird feeder at her front window. Our friendship grew more and more over the years and I will always cherish the special memories we shared. She truly loved life to the fullest.
My sincerest condolences go out to her family and to all who knew her; she will be deeply missed. She was truly a treasure here on earth.
