County Offers Flu Shots

Geauga County Health District will provide flu shots for anyone over 19 years old from 8:30-11 a.m. every Friday during the season at 470 Center St., Building 8, Chardon.

The cost to individuals paying in cash is $40, or, for high-dose vaccine for those 65 and older, $60. The health district is able to accept most Medicare and employer health insurance plans.

No appointment is necessary, but residents may call the health district at 440-279-1950 to preregister and have insurance verified.

2016 Immunization Clinics

The Geauga County General Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a primary insurance card. The following is a list of upcoming immunization clinics:

Family First Council

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group

Dec. 21, 6:30 p.m.

The Alzheimer’s Association Cleveland Area Chapter’s caregiver support group meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St. in Chardon.

The group is designed to provide emotional, educational and social support while encouraging caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health, as well as optimally care for the person with dementia.

Flu Shots

Lake Health is offering quadrivalent flu shots for $30 at the Chardon Campus Urgent Care Center, 510 Fifth Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

No appointment is necessary. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to receive the seasonal flu vaccine at our centers. The influenza vaccination is covered by Medicare.

Blood Pressure Screenings

Lake Health will offer free blood pressure checks at the Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Extended Walk-In Intake Hours

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers has extended its walk-in intake hours at the Mentor location until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays only. Walk-In intake hours will remain the same at the Painesville location.

The walk-in intake hours at the Mentor office, 9083 Mentor Ave., are

Mondays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The walk-in intake hours at the Painesville office, 134 S. St. Clair, will remain 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
