Help for Mental Illness

Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offers support, education and advocacy for those affected by mental illness. Family-to-Family is a free educational program for family members, partners and friends of individuals with mental illness.

The 12-week class will meet Thursdays, beginning Feb. 2, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the NAMI office located at 107 South St. Suite 5, Chardon. For more information or to register, call 440-286-6264 or visit www.namigeauga.org.

2017 Immunization Clinics

The Geauga County General Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a primary insurance card.

Women’s Health Expo

Feb. 4, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Register by Jan. 27 for University Hospitals’ 2017 Women’s Health Expo being held at LaMalfa Party Center, 5783 Heisley Road in Mentor.

The event will feature interactive physician panel, free health screenings and complimentary brunch. Health topics will include women’s heart health, joint health, urology, cancer prevention and general health and wellness. Keynote speaker is University Hospitals Director of Wellness, Dr. Roy Buchinsky. He will present “Live Your Life Well.”

Free Heart Health Test Offered

University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute is offering free calcium scoring at UH Geauga Medical Center, 13207 Ravenna Road, Radiology Department, Claridon Township.

Calcium scoring is an accurate, easy and painless test to determine one’s heart attack risk – and help you decide if you need to change some habits.

Area residents interested in undergoing no-cost calcium scoring may call UH Radiology Patient Access at 216-844-1700, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., to schedule the test. A physician order is required.
