American Red Cross blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.

While all blood types are urgently needed, there is a more critical need for platelets, Type O negative, Type B negative and Type AB.

2018 Immunization Clinics

The Geauga County Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a primary insurance card.

The following is a list of upcoming immunization clinics:

Chardon, Jan. 11, Geauga Health District, 470 Center St., Building 8, 3-6 p.m.

Middlefield, Jan. 18, First United Methodist Church, 14999 S. State Ave., 3-6 p.m.

Help for Mental Illness

Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offers support, education and advocacy for those affected by mental illness.

NAMI Basics is a six-week education program for parents and family caregivers of individuals younger than 22 who are experiencing mental health challenges.

The free class will meet six consecutive Fridays, beginning Jan. 12, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the NAMI Geauga office, 107 South St., Suite 2 in Chardon.
