2018 Immunization Clinics

The Geauga County Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a primary insurance card.

Family First Council

Geauga Family First Council will meet at the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services building located on 13244 Ravenna Road in Chardon. Meetings are open to the public.

Help For Mental Illness

Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offers support, education and advocacy for those affected by mental illness.

NAMI Basics is a six-week education program for parents and family caregivers of school age youth who are experiencing mental health challenges.

The free class will meet six consecutive Thursdays, beginning April 19, from 6-8:30 p.m., at the NAMI Geauga office, 107 South St., Suite 2 in Chardon.

NAMI Homefront Education is a free education program for family, friends and significant others of military service members and veterans with mental health conditions. It focuses on the unique needs military and veteran communities, such as post-deployment and post-discharge transitions.

The class will meet six consecutive Tuesdays, beginning April 24, from 6-8:30 p.m., at the NAMI Geauga Annex, 107 South St., in Chardon.

Start Talking: Underage Drinking

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers and the Geauga County YMCA in recognition of April as Alcohol Awareness Month is presenting Start Talking: How to start a conversation with your children about underage drinkingat the Geauga YMCA located at 12460 Bass Lake Road, Chardon.

Mary-Alice Bell, OCPC, Ravenwood Health Center and Matt Petersen, OCPS, prevention specialist at Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, will lead a discussion to help parents know when to begin a conversation with children and identify tools and other valuable resources available to parents. In addition, there will be family-friendly activities geared around having this very important conversation about drugs and alcohol.

Enter Bras for a Cause Contest

The University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center Auxiliary is hosting the seventh annual Bras for a Cause contest fundraiser to support UH Seidman Cancer Center at UH Geauga. Entries must be submitted at the Wish-You-Well Gift Shop at UH Geauga Medical Center,13207 Ravenna Road, Chardon, no later than April 20.

Entry is free and open to area women of all ages who want to decorate a bra, either individually or as part of a corporate team or club entry. Creations may be artistic, funny, a tribute to a loved one who has battled cancer or decorated any other creative way.

Each entry must be size 34C and fit into a display case that measures 13 inches long by 6 ½ inches wide by 4 ¾ inches deep.

All entries will be displayed April 24 through May 4 at UH Geauga for public and employee voting. Voting tickets will be available at the hospital gift shop for $1 each or $5 for six tickets.

Winners are determined by the amount of money raised by each entry. Final voting will occur and winners will be announced at the Auxiliary’s annual tea luncheon May 5.
