2018 Immunization Clinics

The Geauga County Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a primary insurance card.

Start Talking: Underage Drinking

April 24, 6:30 p.m.

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers and the Geauga County YMCA in recognition of April as Alcohol Awareness Month is presenting Start Talking: How to start a conversation with your children about underage drinkingat the Geauga YMCA located at 12460 Bass Lake Road, Chardon.

Mary-Alice Bell, OCPC, Ravenwood Health Center and Matt Petersen, OCPS, prevention specialist at Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, will lead a discussion to help parents know when to begin a conversation with children and identify tools and other valuable resources available to parents. In addition, there will be family-friendly activities geared around having this very important conversation about drugs and alcohol.

Hospice Volunteers Wanted

Great Lakes Caring Hospice is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families.

Hours are very flexible, with weekday, evenings or weekend options available.

Health District Hosts Nutrition Classes

From funds provided by The Maternal Child Health Grant through the Ohio Department of Health, the Geauga County Health District will hold classes titled “Fruit and Veggie Adventure” to show children that healthy eating can be fun. Classes are open to Geauga County children ages 7 to 9 years old who are accompanied by an adult.

There will be four one-hour classes during the months of May and August. Each class is held from 4–5 p.m. at the Geauga YMCA. May class dates are May 2, 9, 16 and 23 and the second session will be Aug. 1, 18, 15 and 22.
