LGRC Offers Grief Support Group
Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers’ Grief Support Group helps families and individuals who have experienced the sudden loss of a loved one through substance use disorder. People who have suffered this kind of loss know that society treats this type of death in a much different manner than death from other causes. Licensed counselors and peer supports who have shared this life experience will provide assistance to help navigate the grieving process, providing encouragement and hope as individuals move forward in rebuilding their lives.
Group members will be assisted with identifying, processing and moving through stages of grief and receive education and support regarding the disease of substance use disorder.
The group meets at the Mentor office located at 9083 Mentor Ave., Mentor and is free and open to the community. No preregistration is required.

Teen Vaping Facts and Risks
Feb. 7, 6:30 p.m.
Chardon Hilltoppers will present “Teen Vaping – It’s Not What You Think It Is” in the Chardon High School Library. Parents and students are invited to get the facts about the risks and health implications for teens.
Dr. Ellen Rome, director of adolescent health, Cleveland Clinic, will provide opening remarks. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with Dr. Rome; Chardon School administrators; officer Carlson, Chardon Police Department; Missy Bell, Ravenwood Health Center; and Chardon High School students.
10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s
Feb. 9, 10-11 a.m.
The Alzheimer’s Association Cleveland Area Chapter will offer “10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s” at Chardon Methodist Church, 515 North St. Learn how to recognize common signs of the disease, how to approach someone about memory concerns, the importance of early detection and benefits of a diagnosis, possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process and Alzheimer’s Association resources.

Peer Support Group Location Change
Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness offers support, education and advocacy for those affected by mental illness.
NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is a free, peer-led support group for adults living with mental illness. The Middlefield group location has moved to the Middlefield United Methodist Church, 14999 S. State Ave. The group meets weekly at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays in the last room on the left on the lower level.
