Recent public actions at trustee meetings has caused the Huntsburg Township Board of Trustee to adopt Resolution 2019-025. Anyone wishing to be placed on the agenda should contact the chairman, Nancy Saunders, at 440-636-5486 ext. 4 or email huntsburgtwp@windstream.net.
A motion was made by Trustee Hunter and seconded by Trustee Peck to limit all public comment to 5 minutes per individualon the agenda, which can be increased by the chairman’s approval, thus allowing for the business before the board to proceed in a timelymanner. The motion was unanimously carried. All residents wishing to speak should call to be placed on the agenda prior to the meeting and state topic on which they wish to speak.
Minutes from meetings are posted on the township’s Facebook page or one may request a copy by calling the office.
Roads
Township maintenance is currently working on pulling in road edges, filling holes and accessing what needs to be done on each road prior to the application of dust control. Bids for dust control have been advertised and will be reviewed at the May 7 meeting.
Depending on monies available in the road and bridge fund, a decision will be made if roads will be treated.
Zoning
Zoning Inspector Paul Tucker is available by appointment for your zoning permits, exemptions, conditional use permits and variances. He may be reached by calling the township offices at 636-5486 ext. 3. Leave a message and he will return your call.
Be advised that zoning permits are required for all building projects, even agricultural buildings.Some may be exempt from fees but still require an application submission. The township does not know what one is constructing if an application is not submitted.
Call the office for information or visit www.co.geauga.oh.usfor a complete copy of the zoning resolution. Zoning permit applications are available in the town hall foyer.
Huntsburg Grange
The Annual Huntsburg Grange open house and rummage sale will be held in the Huntsburg Town Hall on April 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p m.
Summer Youth Program
Huntsburg Township will once again participate with the Geauga County Summer Youth Program. The program offers summer employment to Geauga County youths between the ages of 14 and 24 for 10 weeks and 40 hours per week.
Interested parties should contact the OhioGuideStone Summer Employment Offices at 440-729-4037 for the requirements.
Spring Cleanup, Tire Recycling Day
For Huntsburg residents only, passenger car tire drop-off is May 18 from 8:30-11 a.m. at the Huntsburg Recreational Park, 17085 Mayfield Road. Tires with dirt or mud will not be accepted.Grant Funding provided by Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District.
The spring cleanup will be held on May 18 from 8:30-11 a.m. or when full. Bring items to the township recreational park. No items are to be left before or after that time.
The following items will not be accepted: lawn waste and appliances with Freon. All appliances must have Freon removal tags -no exceptions.
Cemetery
Maintenance will be cleaning the cemetery and preparing it for Memorial Day services. If there are any items one wishes to keep, please remove them. All old wreaths and unsightly items left at the graveside will be discarded.
No plantings are permitted. Artificial flowers or ornaments are permitted on the graves until they become weather beaten. The township is not responsible for damage or theft of such items and may remove them if they become unsightly.
Road Department
Residents are responsible for keeping their drive pipes clean and free of debris. Please clean out pipes to keep the ditches flowing. Call and report any serious road problem, flooding on roads, fallen limbs or other hazard the township should be aware of. Residents may leave a message at 440-636-5486 option 1.
