Kenston Intermediate School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for April.
Students selected for Student of the Month “Most Improved” honors were fourth-graders, Jennifer Adams, Madison Baucco, Luci Blazek, Ethan Brauer, Angelina Castro, Aaron Manis, Tyler McMahan, Brendan Meister, Owen Orlowski and Kegan Sheely; and fifth-graders, Victor Agresta, Taylor Beebe, Joseph Benjamin, Shelby Brownfield, Larry Czerr, Evan Glasscock, Logan Latz, Nathan Moss, John Palmer and George Sell.
KMS Power Of The Pen Victory
The Kenston Middle School Power of the Pen team won the regional tournament against 34 other teams. They also earned the most points from the district and regional tournaments of all schools to earn the sweepstakes honor.
The team is comprised of seventh-graders Luke Caputo, Aya Henry, Alyssa Kassouf, Erin Mast and Georgie McCarley; and eighth-graders Jenna Barrett, Erica Belfi, Katelyn Giebner, Mira Grcevich, George Quay and Nick Vitello.
Georgie McCarley earned 10th place overall and Best of the Best honors. Erin Mast was honored with a Best of the Best award. George Quay earned a Best of Round award for his story that was judged the best overall of all the stories submitted in one round. Eighth grader Katelyn Giebner placed second overall.
Tickets On Sale For Hello, Dolly!
Kenston Center Stage will present “Hello, Dolly,” an ebullient and irresistible story of the joy of living, glittering with happy songs, shining with loving scenes, alive with the personality of one of the most fabulous characters on the musical stage – Dolly Gallagher Levi. The show features classic musical numbers, including “Put On Your Sunday Clothes,” “Ribbons Down My Back,” “Before the Parade Passes By,” “Elegance,” “It Only Takes A Moment” and “So Long, Dearie.”
Online tickets are available through the Kenston High School website. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the high school box office April 18 and 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reserved tickets are available for $8 or $14 for the shows on April 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. or April 21 at 2 p.m.
Vocal Music Competition
The Kenston High School chorus and the chorale competed in the District 6 Ohio Music Education Association Large Group (OMEA) Contest on March 15 at Revere High School. The chorus competed in Class A and the newly formed Kenston Chorale competed in Class C. Both groups received “superior” or “1” ratings.

Instrumental Music Competition
Kenston High School band members participated in the District 7 Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Large Group Contest on March 8 and 9 at Mentor High School.
The symphonic band competed in Class A and received a “superior” or “1” rating. The concert winds competed in Class C and received an “excellent” or “2” rating.

Groups Perform At Disney
Kenston High School marching band, chorus and Bomberette dance team traveled to Florida over spring break. The marching band performed in Epcot on March 25 and the chorus performed at Epcot on March 27. All three groups participated in workshops facilitated by Disney cast members.
The students also enjoyed time together at The Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach.
Renewable Energy Dedication
The Kenston Community is invited to celebrate Earth Day 2013 with the dedication of the wind turbine and solar panels on April 21 at 1 p.m. adjacent to the tennis courts. Refreshments and hands-on activities will take place following at short ceremony in the Kenston Intermediate School multi-purpose room.
Earth Day 5K
Kenston High School Envirothon is hosting a community race to recognize Earth Day on April 28 at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8:15 a.m. The race will begin at Kenston Community Stadium.
Cost covering entry and a T-shirt is $15.
Proceeds from the race will be used to support Kenston Trails and scholarships for environmental learning. Registration forms are available on the high school website.
