Township Board Positions

Munson Township is seeking residents interested in serving on the zoning commission or park and recreation board. These are non-compensated, voluntary positions.

The zoning commission meets the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. and the park board generally meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Those interested should either bring or send a letter of intent with resume no later than Nov. 3 to the Munson Board of Trustees, 12210 Auburn Road, Chardon, 44024.

Congratulations

Geauga County Commissioner Mary Samide received the 11th annual Walter F. Ehrnfelt Jr. Award at the NOACA’s 11th annual meeting held recently at the Cleveland Convention Center.

Mary Samide has been a NOACA board member since 2004 and became the organization’s president in 2008. She began her political career as a Munson Township Trustee for nine years and has been a Geauga County Commissioner for 10 years.

Absentee Ballots for Nov. 4

Applications for absentee ballots for the Nov. 4 general election are now available at the Geauga County Board of Elections, 470 Center St., 6-A, Chardon.

Al-Anon Meeting

Alcoholics Anonymous will meet Oct. 3, from 8-9 p.m., at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson. The weekly meetings are free and offer support and encouragement to those seeking to overcome an addiction to alcohol.

Good Tidings Benefit Choir

Practices for the Good Tidings Benefit Choir’s annual holiday concerts will begin Oct. 12 from 2-4 p.m. and continue each Sunday until the performances, which take place Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 3 p.m., at the Notre Dame Provincial Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson.

The choir is open to anyone 14 years and older. There are no auditions.

Canoe Float at Bass Lake Preserve

The Geauga Park District will accept registrations Oct. 11-17 for its Fall Color Canoe Float taking place Oct. 18, from 1-3 p.m., at Bass Lake Preserve in Munson. Spectacular autumn colors and migratory waterfowl will be viewed while exploring the lake.

Halloween in Munson

Door-to-door Trick or Treat will be allowed in Munson Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. Please accompany one’s children and have them wear light colored clothing and carry flashlights.

The safer alternative is the annual Halloween party at the Munson Township Fire Department being held Oct. 31 from 6-8:30 p.m. There will be games, treats and fun for all.

Monetary donations only are acceptable for the event at the Munson Fire Department, 12200 Auburn Road.
