Munson’s Road Department

A note of thanks to the road department, under the direction of Road Superintendent Jim Teichman, for its work clearing township roads the evening and night of Nov. 13 when we “enjoyed” our first heavy snowfall making local roads impassable until cleared by the road department and state highway department.

The road crew often works throughout the night, holidays and weekends to keep township roads safe. Thanks, guys.

Congratulations

The Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin girls volleyball team recently won its first-ever state volleyball championship by winning the Division II Championship against the Hawks of Columbus’ Bishop Hartley School.

Best wishes to these fine athletes for continued success.

Historic Tidbit

Thanksgiving Day was originally a devotional observance celebrated in 1620 by the Mayflower Pilgrims who gave thanks for their first harvest. It became a holiday in various states on different Thursdays in November.

President Abraham Lincoln designated the last Thursday in November as a national holiday in 1864.

Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 27. Fly the beautiful flag and give thanks for the great country in which we live. Happy Thanksgiving Day to all.
