All township offices will be closed Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Day.

Antiques & Collectibles Show

Adults and children can enjoy a large selection of tin and cast toys, models, mechanical toys and more that will be on display Jan. 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lakeland Community College, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland. Model railroaders will find a large selection of diecast cars and accessories for collections.

Free Sunday Dinner

St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Munson, offers a free Sunday dinner Jan. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Room. There will be a choice of soups, breads, desserts and more. Donations are not necessary, but will be appreciated. To help prepare or serve the dinner, or for more information, call 440-285-4641.

Shutterbugs Camera Club

The Shutterbugs Camera Club will meet from 7-9 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Geauga Park District’s West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township. Photography artists of all ages are encouraged to bring in their work for friendly critiques and suggestions.

At the Senior Center

The new library is now open at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. Computers are also available in the library for use by visitors. Many large print books are on the shelves ready for winter reading. Library volunteers are needed; call 440-279-2130 to help.

Please note: The Chardon Senior Center will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1 for the holidays. In the event of heavy snow, the Chardon Senior Center is closed if Chardon Schools are closed. To verify, call 440-279-2130.

Tri-County Coin Club

The Tri-County Coin Club will meet at 6:45 p.m. Jan. 8 at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson.

Following a short business meeting, there will be a 50-plus-lot coin auction, coin displays and more.

The monthly meetings are free and all ages of coin collectors are welcome. For more information, call 440-564-7142.

Mapletown Squares

The Mapletown Squares will hold a dance Jan. 9 from 8-10:30 p.m. at the Chardon Senior Center, 12455 Ravenwood Drive, Munson.

There will be square dancing and rounds. Callers will be John Ramsey and Charlie Brown. New dancers are welcome.

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president, 1861-1865, known as Honest Abe, was the tallest president at 6 feet, 4 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds. He was also the first president to wear a beard. He ended the Civil War on April 9,1865, and was assassinated on April 14, 1865.
