Pancakes At The Grange

Hambden Grange is serving pancakes on Jan. 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, corn fritters, juice, cocoa and coffee are only $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.

The Grange is located at 9778 Old State Road. Be sure to come for a great breakfast and support local Grange 2482.

Snow Plowing

It finally happened; Hambden had to plow snow at last. Road Superintendent Dave Heald wishes to remind residents that when they plow their snow, they need to keep it on their property.

Do not plow it across the road and leave half of it in the roadway. This practice makes it dangerous for other drivers and when plowing across the road, one often blocks the way to the neighbor’s mailbox. If any obstructions are left in the road, it is not safe and is against the law.

Township Meetings

In 2013, township meetings will remain on the first and third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the township hall.

This year’s chairman will be Keith McClintock. Ed Kaminski will serve as vice chairman.

Mr. McClintock will serve as liaison to zoning and the park. Mr. Kaminski will be liaison to the fire department and for roads and Mrs. Pope will oversee the township hall and cemetery. Any decisions concerning these areas are always made by the entire board, but it helps to have a couple of areas to give an extra level of attention to so we can report back to the other board members.

Please remember that all residents are always welcome at our meetings. This is your township and we value your input.

The Zoning Commission will meet on the first Monday of each month and BZA as needed. All meeting dates and times are posted on the sign in front of the township hall.

A Special Thank You

Last week, Hambden Township was host to the quarterly Geauga County Township Association Meeting. We served dinner to over 80 township, county and state officials at our township hall.

The road crew worked so hard cleaning and waxing the old hall until it shone and they did all of the table setup and tear down. Thanks go to Dave Heald and Dan Brazis.

Mary Ann Dottore, Lauri Zampino and Darlene Welch also worked their magic. The hall looked amazing with their fantastic handmade centerpieces and loan of their beautiful table coverings. Instead of just attending the dinner, they all worked very hard setting up, serving and doing cleanup to make sure everything went smoothly.

We were so proud of our township and are really grateful to these wonderful people for working so hard to make the evening go so smoothly.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Hambden Township is still recycling Christmas trees through the end of this week. We were lucky enough to receive a grant from Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste District to pay for the cost of this service.

The recycling bin is still at the township park. Trees can be dropped off between dawn and dusk.

Please remember that there will not be assistance for you when unloading your tree and putting it in the container. Only Christmas trees can be placed in this container, which is clearly marked.

No recyclables should be left on the ground at the recycling center. Often the back containers have plenty of room in them and items are left on the ground by the front row of containers. Be sure to check and if all containers are full, please take your items home and check back in a couple of days. The containers are emptied at least twice a week.
