Pancakes At The Grange

Hambden Grange will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast March 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy pancakes, maple syrup, corn fritters, sausage, bacon, juice, cocoa and coffee all for $7 for adults and $3 for kids 10 and under.

Help Needed

Residents are needed to serve on the Hambden Township Audit Committee and Zoning Board of Appeals. Anyone interested in receiving more information concerning these positions is encouraged to call the township hall between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 440-286-4364. Mary Ann or Lauri will be glad to provide all the information.

Newsletters

Hambden Highlights should have arrived last week, but for some reason they seem to be sitting at the Cleveland Post Office. We take them to Chardon and they have to go to Cleveland and back to Chardon before they can get to Hambden. We’re hoping they are back in Hambden mailboxes this week.

Anyone who does not receive a copy of the February newsletter may call Mary Ann or Lauri at the township hall to be put on the mailing list.

Hambden Community Picnic

To be really honest, we thought that last year would be the final community picnic. Something happened though and it was the best attended picnic in several years. We certainly don’t want it to end.

The problem, though, is that a small group of the same people who started the picnic over 25 years ago is still trying to put it together each year. They need help. There are so many new families in Hambden.

We really need to know if the picnic is something residents want to continue. If they do, a few people will have to step up to help. The committee has dwindled from about 10 volunteers to four or five people. This isn’t enough to take on a community picnic.

Anyone who would be willing to meet three or four times before the picnic and line up a few volunteers to help with food and the Chinese auction, please call Nadine Pope at 440-286-3273 or email her at popemi@roadrunner.com.

We still have not heard from a single resident. Please help out.

Spring Trash Day

Because of the move of the date of the Maple Festival to the last weekend in April, Spring Trash Day has been moved up to the third Saturday in April. On April 20, residents may bring all of their accumulated “trash” to the township park from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The township cannot take garbage, yard waste, hazardous chemicals or paint that is not dried in the can. Appliances do not have to have the Freon removed. Electronics will not be accepted, however, there is a computer recycling container at the park year round.

Tire recycling will be offered; no commercial truck or tractor tires. All tires must be removed from the rims.

Shredding will not be offered this spring.

For more information, call the township hall at 440-286-4364.

Birthday Wishes

Happy birthday to former longtime trustee Bill Gertz. Hope he has a terrific birthday and a wonderful year.
