Jump Into Fall Days

Oct. 15 and 16, 1-5 p.m.

A team of Percheron draft horses will pull a wooden park wagon along a scenic woodland path at Swine Creek Reservation, 16004 Hayes Road, Middlefield Township.

Availability is first-come, first-served from 1-4 p.m. A naturalist will also be on board to offer a little light interpretation on the season and surroundings.

Activities to enjoy while waiting include kayaking, fishing, face painting and balloon creations. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Pokemon & Planets

Oct. 9, 1-4 p.m.

Observatory Park, 10610 Clay St. in Montville Township, is a hot spot for the Pokemon GO phenomenon. Join a naturalist to take a walk on the Planetary Trail to discover that all eight planets and additional interpretive areas are Pokestops. Registration is not required. Naturalists will also offer additional nature- and astronomy-themed activities, such as planetarium shows from 2-3 p.m.

SCOUT DAYS

Explore Geauga parks to Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts can earn some Scouting credits while exploring The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township. Registration is required for all of the programs, which are indoors and out.

Webelos Into the Woods Elective Adventure

Oct. 22, 9:30-11 a.m.

Daisy Scouts Clover Pedal

Nov. 5, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Tiger Cubs Backyard Jungle

Nov. 5, 1-2 p.m.

GET ON BOARD FOR A DAY TRIP

Visit locations outside of our parks with a Geauga Park District naturalist as the guide. Registration is required.

Habitats Revisited Van Trip: Hyde Property

Oct. 9, 1-4 p.m.

Meet at The West Woods and visit the protected Hyde property to enjoy it in its autumn wardrobe, to explore, and to observe the seasonal changes in the plant and animal life that call it home.

Lure of the Ledges Van Tour

Oct. 23, 1-6 p.m.

Meet at Swine Creek Reservation’s lodge and take the van to explore Thompson and Nelson Ledges. Participants should expect hiking on rough terrain with inclines.
