Congratulations go out to the Saint Mary’s School Science Olympiad Team. This is the first year for a Science Olympiad team at the school.
On Feb. 16, the team competed at the Mentor Invitational. Out of 34 teams, St. Mary’s placed 19th.
Then, on Feb. 23, the team competed at the regional tournament at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. The competition included 22 teams from the region.
Congratulations to the following team members for their outstanding performance:
Alyse Zemba and Brianna Porfilio placed fourth in the Write It-Do It event; Taylor Tomcany and Claire Milano placed ninth in the Reach for the Stars event; Izabella Buzogany and Caren Lasota placed 17th in the Crimebusters event; Jamie Fowle and Alyse Zemba placed 12th in the Food Science event;
Tyler Plants and Megan MacCartney placed 16th in the Forestry event; Sam Rodriguez and Bobby Williams placed 12th in the Helicopter event; Reese Schneider, Thomas Fowle and Eddie Buzogany placed 14th in the Mousetrap event; and Melanie Schaefer and Christina Fraser placed 12th in the Rocks and Minerals event.
Congratulations to all of the students and coaches. The school plans on growing the team next year and competing in more events.
