Spring Into Good Health
April 8, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
The Senior Health Fair will be held at the Chagrin Falls Senior Center, 7060 Woodland Ave. in Bainbridge.
There will be a variety of professionals, programs and services available, including: Ask the Nurse, Heinen’s Wellness Department, Bainbridge Fire Department, Geauga County Department on Aging’s Chore and Home Safety and Out Of County Medical Transportation. UH Geauga Medical Center will provide free blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings.
For a $3 donation, enjoy a strata breakfast before or after the fair.
Young of Heart Trips
St. Anselm Young of Heart has an eight-day bus trip planned to Canada for Sept. 18-25. The group will be going to Toronto, Ottawa; Quebec City, Montreal; and Niagara Falls. Included are 14 meals, gratuities, luggage handling and admissions to all attractions. A passport is needed. Cost is $1,425 per person double occupancy or $1,445 for non-members.
A New Year’s Eve trip has been planned to go to the Das Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana, Ohio. The evening includes dinner, a 12-piece band and a show by Michael Sonata, a kielbasa and kraut buffet at midnight and an overnight stay at this beautiful inn. Cost will be approximately $200. Final payment is due by July 1, with a deposit due now.

AARP Safe Driver’s Class
April 22, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
West Geauga Senior Center will host an AARP Safe Driver’s class. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. Class fee is payable the day of class, but preregistration is required. To register, call Becky or Teddi at the West Geauga Senior Center, 440-729-2782 or 440-279-2130.
Out of County Medical Transportation
The Geauga County Department on Aging provides the Out of County Medical Transport program to Geauga County seniors 60 and over to designated parts of Lake, Cuyahoga, Portage, Ashtabula and Trumbull counties, and the city of Twinsburg. Transportation is available Monday through Friday on a first-come, first-serve basis and has vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts.
It is a curb-to-curb service and individuals need to be able to get in and out of the medical buildings on their own. A family member or attendant can also ride with the senior.
When calling to book a ride, please provide one’s name, address and phone number; the doctor’s name, address and phone number; the appointment date and time and approximately how long the appointment may last. Donations accepted.

Guidelines for April And May Cleanups
In order to be placed on the cleanup list, one must first be registered with the Geauga County Department on Aging, be 60 years of age or older and live in the community holding the trash pickup.
For more information and to register, call the Department on Aging at 440-279-2129, 440-279-2135 or 440-279-2130 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
No liquids, paint or other hazardous materials, unused medications, construction debris, rocks, yard waste, or household garbage will be accepted.
Tires off the rims (limited to four in some areas), appliances, mattresses (wrapped and taped securely) and other unwanted items will be accepted.
All material should be consolidated in strong boxes and items should be kept dry and covered with a tarp if possible. Only 10 household items per home and the trash should be from the registered senior’s household only.
When registering, please indicate if assistance is needed removing items from the home.
Do not leave items curbside.

Reduce wood or pipe to six-foot or less lengths. No televisions, computer monitors or small appliances with electrical components will be accepted.
