Grand Opening Event

May 5, 4-6 p.m.

The Geauga County Department on Aging is having a grand opening event for its new West Geauga Senior Center location, 12646 West Geauga Plaza in Chester Township.

Come and celebrate, and meet the staff and enjoy refreshments.

Lunch & Learn Series

June 17, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Come out and enjoy a free lunch and speaker discussing “Music and Memory The Healing Power of Music” at Blossom Hill Health Care Residence, 12496 Princeton Road in Huntsburg.

Limited transportation seating is available from the Chardon Senior Center.

To register, arrange transportation or for more information on the series, call the Chagrin Falls Senior Center at 440-247-8510. Next month, the series will continue at Chardon Health Care.

Learning for a Lifetime

May 18

The Geauga County Department on Aging in conjunction with Kent State University Geauga Campus invites seniors to join for the annual “Learning for a Lifetime” at the KSU Geauga Campus in Burton. Seniors have a choice of three classes offered at 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The selection of classes covers a wide spectrum of interests and provides seniors with a unique opportunity to challenge and invigorate themselves in areas of interest.

Registration is required; class size is limited. Cost is $10 per registered senior and includes lunch. Transportation is available.

Guidelines for May and June Senior Trash Pickups

In order to be placed on the cleanup list, one must first be registered with the Geauga County Department on Aging, be 60 years of age or older and live in the community holding the trash pickup.

The Department on Aging employees, volunteers and local service departments will remove unwanted items from seniors’ homes, saving seniors the time and effort of taking it themselves.

Department on Aging employees and volunteers will remove items from seniors’ homes and take them to the road for pickup on May 7.

Items must be left outside of home or garage by June 5. Do not leave items curbside.

City of Chardon

June 15-16

Unwanted items will be removed from the homes of Chardon City senior citizens June 15 and 16 and Universal Disposal will pick up items curbside, June 18.
