Dan Ruminski will speak in the parish center about the Millionaires’ Row Women.

On Sept. 18-25, the group will be going on a bus trip to Canada, with stops in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City and Niagara Falls. A passport is needed. Cost is $1,425 per person, double occupancy ($1,445 for non-members). Total payment is due at sign up.

An overnight New Year’s Eve trip is planned at Das Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana, Ohio. Payment must be made by Sept. 10. A great evening is planned including a Frank Sinatra tribute show by Michael Sonata with a 12-piece orchestra, steak and shrimp dinner, a kielbasa and kraut buffet at midnight, non-alcoholic beverages all night, breakfast in the morning and a casino on the way home. BYOB. Also included is an antique auto museum. Cost is $220, with a $50 deposit due at signup with the balance due by Sept. 10.

Financial advisor Steve Mrozek, of Edward Jones, will present “Script Your Family’s Future: Why You Need an Estate Plan” at Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive. Learn strategies on distributing assets to family members, caring for minor or special needs children and determining who will make medical or financial decisions if unable to make them oneself.

Following the presentation, Mrozek and attorney Amy L Papesh, of Elk & Elk, who specializes in probate, estate planning and guardianships, will be available to answer questions.

Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

Sept. 6, 1 p.m.

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP 4527 will meet for its annual hot dog and chips lunch at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road. Cost is $3. Call Betty Scholz at 440-338-8321 for reservations.

Lunch will be followed by a brief meeting and information about club activities.

The last trip of the season is to Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Oct. 26. Cost is $30, with a $20 casino bonus. The group will stop for breakfast on the way there but travel straight home on way back. Sign up at the travel table or call Skip Ference, 440-338-3607.

School supplies and food staples will be collected for the food pantry as well as donations of dog food, hot dogs, blankets and towels for the Geauga County Dog Shelter. Everyone who donates articles at the door will have his or her name put in a pot for a special drawing.

Adult Day Care

The Department on Aging’s Adult Day Service (ADS) Program provides assistance to those needing help caring for a loved one with early stage dementia and those feeling overwhelmed by the daily responsibilities. ADS staff provide care for one’s loved one in a safe, structured environment.

There is no fee for the program, however, donations will be accepted to help enhance and grow the program.

The Adult Day Service Program is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ADS participants are offered transportation, a nutritious lunch, cognitive stimulation, physical exercise and socialization as part of the program.

Russell Township Senior Trash Pickup

Sept. 21 and 22

In order to be placed on the cleanup list, one must first be registered with the Geauga County Department on Aging, be 60 years of age or older and live in Russell Township.

As a special service to senior residents, Russell Township and the Department on Aging will pick up refuse from the seniors who need assistance. Have items ready to be moved out the evening before the pickup. Do not leave items curbside.

No liquids, paints, antifreeze or motor oil, hazardous materials, plastic-coated wire, construction debris, rocks, yard waste, tree trunks or household garbage will be accepted.

Metal items, appliances, televisions and electronic equipment will be accepted. Mattresses must be wrapped in plastic and taped securely. Only 10 household items per home and the trash should be from the registered senior’s household only.

No tires will be picked up, as Russell will have a separate tire pickup in August. Smaller materials should be consolidated in strong boxes and kept dry (tarped) if possible.

Have items ready to be moved out the evening before the pickup. Do not leave items by curbside.
