Smoke Detector Battery Assist

Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Nov. 6, which means that it’s time to change smoke detector batteries.

Volunteers from the Geauga County Department in Aging are available to assist during the Fall Smoke Detector Battery Assist. Smoke detectors are typically located on the ceiling or high on the wall, which can present a fall hazard for the elderly when changing batteries.

Seniors who need to have their smoke or carbon monoxide detector batteries replaced can call the Geauga County Department on Aging for help. Once the senior is registered with the GDA, a volunteer will schedule a time to come out and replace the old batteries.

Call 440-279-2130, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
