Senior Trash Pickup Days
Senior citizens who live in one of the townships or villages listed below and have unwanted items that need to be picked up at their homes may sign up for trash pick-up days.
Register with the Geauga County Department on Aging (GDA) at 440-279-2129 by the cut off day or earlier. Once registered, seniors can be placed on the trash pickup roster. To receive trash pickup assistance, one must be 60 years of age or older and live in the village, township or city holding the pick-up.
For specific trash guidelines or to register for the pickup, call the Department on Aging at 440-279-2129 or 440-279-2130 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Only 10 household items per home, and trash should be from the registered senior’s household only.
Only registered seniors can be placed on the pickup list. When signing up for pickup, please have a list of items that need to be removed.
Chardon Township: May 30 and 31. Registration cutoff is May 23.
Auburn Township: June 1 and 2. Registration cutoff is May 25 or earlier.
Newbury Township: June 5-7. Registration cutoff is May 30, or earlier.
Huntsburg Township: June 15. Registration cutoff is June 8, or earlier.
Health Fair
June 9, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Step Into Good Health at the West Geauga Senior Center. A variety of professionals and programs will be available, including: Department on Aging’s Chore and Home Maintenance and Out of County Medical, Chardon Smile Center, Genoa, hChoices – Wellness Kiosk Information and Heinen’s Health and Wellness. University Hospitals Geauga Medical (EMS) will offer free screenings for blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol.
Light refreshments will be served, or, for a $3 donation, join for breakfast before or after the fair.

Free Memory Screenings
June 6, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Cheryl Hallowell from UH Geauga’s Senior Adult Assessment Program will be offering memory screenings to provide seniors with their baseline numbers at the Chagrin Falls Senior Center. Call Becky, 440-247-8510, for an appointment.
