Sign Up for Home Delivered Holiday Meals

The Geauga County Department on Aging will offer a free traditional meal to any Geauga County seniors, age 60 and older, who will be home and alone on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, and/or Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

A friendly volunteer will deliver a hot holiday meal to the senior’s home and spend a little time visiting on Thanksgiving and/or Christmas day.

If one is or knows a senior citizen that would like a holiday meal, call the department on aging at 440-279-2130.

Cleanup Days Volunteers Needed

The Geauga County Department on Aging is still in need of volunteers from all over the county to help during the 2015 Geauga Fall Cleanup Days for seniors. The program runs through November.

Many seniors can no longer rake their yards or flowerbeds, weed, clean up yard debris or wash windows. By volunteering just a few hours of time, one can help senior citizens remain independent and allow them to live in a safe, clean environment.

Volunteers will generally be assigned close to their homes to make the most of their volunteer time. Some volunteers, however, may choose another area in which they would like to work.

Individuals or groups can register to volunteer with the department on aging by calling Kristen Bibby, volunteer coordinator, or Bob Debevits, home maintenance coordinator, at 440-279-2130, 440-279- 2138 or 440-279-2135 ext. 2130, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
