Spectacular Costume Selections
Sept. 11, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Join the Chardon Senior Center for a visit to Century Village Museum to see the “Best of the Best: Spectacular Costume Selections from 1800-1970.” Guests are taken on a tour and given the history of the item. The tour also includes how the fashion and history of America intertwined.
After the tour, the group will enjoy lunch and cake under the pavilion. An additional 30-minute walking tour of the grounds will be given right after lunch, followed by shopping at the gift shop.
Cost is $15 to ride the GDA bus or $12 to drive on your own. Deadline to register is Sept. 4 or until filled.
Advanced Directives
Sept. 12, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
The Geauga County Bar Association Advance Directives Committee and Hospice of the Western Reserve will present information and answer questions regarding health care powers of attorney and living wills at the Chardon Senior Center.
They will distribute the standard forms and return on Sept. 19, from 12:30-1:30 p.m., with attorneys from the Geauga Bar to help seniors complete the forms and notarize them. It will allow seniors time to think about what they personally want and who they would want speaking on their behalf if they are unable.
Diabetes Self-Management
A six-week self-management class that focuses on diabetes will be held Thursdays, Sept. 14, 21, 29, Oct. 5, 19 and 26 at Chagrin Falls Senior Center. During each two and one-hour class, seniors will get support, find practical ways to deal with pain, fatigue and sugar control, discover better nutrition and exercise choices, understand new treatment choices and learn better ways to communicate with doctors and family about one’s health.
The class is free to all registered Geauga County seniors, but pre-registration is required by calling the senior center at 440-247-8510.

- Trip to Observatory Park: Aug. 21, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Let’s Take a safe look at the solar eclipse. Stop for lunch at Cabana’s on the way. Meet the group there, or come to the senior center for limited transportation. Lunch is on your own.
- Interesting Things on the Internet: Aug. 23, 11 a.m. Learn how to look things up on the internet.
- Wellness Around the World: Aug. 25, 11 a.m. Presented by Carol, of Heinen’s Health & Wellness, learn about healthy exotic foods from around the world and why they are so important to our health. Live cooking demo will take place.
