Mexican Cuisine and Culture: Jan. 10, 12-2 p.m. University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center and Department on Aging are hosting three free 2018 Cuisine and Culture program events in the UH Geauga conference center.

• Mexican Cuisine and Culture: Jan. 10, 12-2 p.m. University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center and Department on Aging are hosting three free 2018 Cuisine and Culture program events in the UH Geauga conference center. The first event features Mexico. Learn about their holidays, traditions and enjoy some Mexican cuisine. Space is limited; preregistration is required.

• Painting Pals: Thursdays, 12-3 p.m. Join a small and friendly group of painters in the basement of the senior center. For more information, call Diane Cogswell at 440-728-0503.

• Chair Exercises: Monday through Friday, 9:30-10:15 a.m.

• Festival of Sleep Day: Jan. 3, 9 a.m. Wear one’s best pajamas and start the day off with a waffle bar. A sleep specialist from University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center will give a talk on sleep disorders in seniors, followed by some fun games. Cost is $5 per person; reservations required.

• Goodbye December Get-Together: Dec. 29, 11 a.m. to noon. Bring a gift for a post-Christmas white elephant gift exchange and have fun.

• Blood Pressure Screenings: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Starting in January, the first Thursday of each month, a representative from University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center will provide monthly blood pressure screenings.

• Walkers Club: Wednesdays, 12:30-3 p.m. Walk indoors in the center’s gym.

• Baking with Lorina: Jan. 8, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Learn how to make an Amish-recipe, blueberry coffee cake. Sampling will be after lunch for dessert. Call to reserve by Jan. 2.

Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

Jan. 2, 1 p.m.

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP Chapter 4527 will meet at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township. Start out the new year with a little fun playing bingo.

If the Kenston School system is cancelled due to weather, the meeting will also be cancelled. Check local television stations for school closings.

Food and staples will be collected for the Food for Friends food pantry as well as dog food, treats and supplies for the Geauga Dog Shelter. Monetary donations are also appreciated.
