Thank You

A sincere thank you goes to Hambden resident John Heck for his service as an alternate on the Hambden Township Zoning Commission. John’s schedule is no longer permitting him to continue on the Zoning Commission and trustees want him to know he will be missed.

His resignation has left an opening as an alternate on the Zoning Commission. If a resident is interested, please contact the township office at 440-286-4364. Lauri or MaryAnn will provide the details.

Memorial Day Observance

Hambden Township will hold its annual Memorial Day parade and observance May 27. The parade marshals are Kevin and Nancy O’Reilly. The parade will line up around 8:45 a.m. behind Hambden Plaza.

All local 4-H groups, ball teams and Scouts are invited to join in the parade. Hambden children with decorated bikes and wagons are also welcome walk in the parade.

The Chardon High School Marching Band, Great Geauga County Fair Band and Geauga Highlanders Pipe Band will all be participating in this year’s parade. Anyone is welcome to join in the parade; please call Mary Ann or Lauri at the township hall at 440-286-4364 to sign up.

After the parade, there will be a short service at Hambden Congregational Church with state Rep. John Patterson as guest speaker. Former township trustee Bill Gertz will then read the names of the Hambden veterans at the township park. The morning will conclude with a pancake breakfast at Hambden Fire Department.

Hambden Community Picnic

The picnic committee met last week to go over details for this year’s event, which will be held at the township park on Aug. 11 from 1-5 p.m. There will be entertainment, a Chinese auction, children’s games, a bakery walk and prizes for children of all ages.

To donate an item for the Chinese auction, call Nadine at 440-286-3273 or drop it off at the township hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

Thanks in advance for everyone’s assistance in making a great picnic.
