The Cleveland woman behind the wheel of a Garda armored truck involved in a head-on collision in Newbury Township on Sept. 29 has died, according to the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office.

Bobbie Jean Phillips was driving the 2000 Ford F-650 armored car eastbound on Route 87 when she veered left of center, colliding with a 2004 International dump truck traveling westbound.

Andrew Housholder, 37, of Roaming Shores, had to be extricated from the dump truck using the “jaws of life.”

Both vehicle had one passenger. The armored car’s passenger was Delano Harris, 35, of Euclid. The dump truck passenger was Charles Rohr, 24, of Chardon.

Phillips, Householder and Rohr were taken to Hillcrest Hospital with serious injuries. Harris was taken to University Hosptials Geauga Medical Center with minor injuries.

An eyewitness to the crash, Steve Sparks, of Bainbridge Township, said Phillips was going too fast for road conditions moments before the crash.
