Chardon Schools hired Deb Armbruster as district treasurer May 24 to replace Ashley Brudno, who announced at the May 21 Chardon Schools Board of Education meeting she would be taking a new position with Chagrin Falls Schools.

In a press release, BOE President Madelon Horvath said Armbruster, a resident of Chardon, has extensive experience with several school districts, including having worked for several years in the Chardon treasurer’s office, and is currently serving as treasurer at Crestwood Schools in Mantua.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity of serving Chardon local schools, the board, the staff and the community in my home town,” Armbruster said in the press release.

Horvath said the district treasurer is an integral part of the school’s leadership team, with responsibility for all financial aspects of running the district.

“Without a solid financial picture, the school system cannot do the critical day-to-day and long-range planning that is crucial to creating the best opportunities for students,” she wrote.

Horvath also took the opportunity to thank Brudno on behalf of the board for a “terrific job as treasurer the last five years,” and express their best wish for her in her new position.

Horvath added the board is looking forward to working with Armbruster.

“It’s exciting to have Ms. Armbruster back on our team,” she wrote. “We believe she will be a great asset to Chardon local schools.”

Armbruster will begin serving an interim role in June, with an official start date of Aug. 1.
