Geauga County Commissioner Ralph Spidalieri, left, filed his petitions with the Geauga County Board of Elections on Tuesday to retain the countywide seat he has held since 2012. Spidalieri, who owns Great Lakes Outdoor Supply based in Middlefield Village, recently announced to the Geauga County GOP Central Committee that this would be his final term as commissioner.
“Although there are no term limits, I believe in allowing others with great ideas and goals for Geauga County an opportunity to serve,” Spidalieri said Tuesday. “My priority goal starting out in 2012 was to turn our county around from having almost $5 million of debt, and I am proud to report today we have a $7.5 million surplus, making us one of the highest financially ranked and rated county not only in Ohio but throughout our country.”
If reelected, Spidalieri said he has a number of projects he would like to see completed to assure residents get the oversight they deserve.
“If reelected, I will work with interested candidates that would have an interest in running and assist them in learning the job and involving them as much as possible, so a transition would be smooth and the residents would be assured of a stable government,” he said. “It has been my honor to serve such great people that reside in Geauga County and there is truly no place like this. Thank you for always supporting me and allowing and trusting me to have your best interest.”
Spidalieri faces a challenge in the March 2020 GOP primary from South Russell Village Councilman Dennis Galicki.
