A hit-and-run vehicle accident on Munn Road in Auburn Township at 12:30 a.m. Nov. 12 killed a 23-year-old Auburn Township man, according to the Chardon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Tyler Davis, driving a 2016 Honda Pioneer, was northbound on Munn Road when he was struck from behind by another vehicle and forced off the west side of the roadway, said Lt. L.P. Jones in a press release, adding the other vehicle fled the scene.
Davis was ejected from the Honda and sustained life-threatening injuries, Jones said.
“He was transported to University Hospitals (Geauga Medical Center) and later to (UH) Cleveland where he was pronounced deceased,” Jones said. “Evidence at the scene led troopers to a residence where the skip vehicle was later found. The 2005 Buick Lacrosse was recovered from that residence.”
The accident remains under investigation and charges for the driver of the skip vehicle are pending, based on the results of the investigation, Jones said.
No other information could be provided as of Nov. 14.
Auburn Township Fire Department, Geauga County Sheriff’s Office and Interstate Towing provided assistance at the scene.
