Kenston Schools Board of Education named a new communications coordinator for the 2023-24 school year at their meeting Aug. 21.

The board voted unanimously to appoint Amy Sparks for a 1-year contract at a salary of $50,000, effective July 31, 2023, through June 14, 2024.

“In continuing to provide a level of excellence in communications to the Kenston community, Kenston Schools has contracted through the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio to assist with the district’s communications. I will be the communications coordinator in the district and the liaison between the district and the ESC for the 2023-24 school year,” Sparks said. “I am based out of the Central Office and will also be on campus at many school events. This is the start of my fifth year with Kenston Schools. I look forward to a great year of sharing all the wonderful news, events, and happenings on campus.”

Her appointment comes after the July 31 retirement of Katy McGrath after a long career with Kenston Schools as Community Relations Director.

“Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you this year,” Sparks said in an Aug. 2 email to the Geauga County Maple Leaf.
