Middlefield Woman Busted for Drug Possession
Detectives from the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Wednesday an Orwell man for drug trafficking and a Middlefield wo-man for felony drug possession.
Detectives alleg-edly observed David A. Scott, 43, of Orwell, leaving the Middlefield Rite Aid after filling a prescription for $1.20. He attempted to sell 15 0f the 180 Oxy-codone pills to 39-year-old Heidi L. Havel, of Middle-field, for $280.
Havel allegedly attempted to hide the money and drugs when detectives app-roached her.
Middlefield Police assisted in the arrest.
Havel made an initial appearance in Chardon Municipal Court on Aug. 1. Judge Terri Stupica set bond at 10 percent of $2,500.
Scott also appeared and Stupica set his bond at 10 percent of $50,000, but ordered him held in jail on no bond as he violated probation.
Scott has his preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 8. Havel’s is Sept. 5.
Woman Injured in Middlefield Crash
A Warren, Ohio woman remains in critical condition after hitting a guardrail in Middlefield last night and overturning her vehicle.
Denise?M. Yale, 44, was traveling southbound on state Route 528 — just south of Nauvoo Road — in a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser around 8:55 p.m. when she approached a lane closure due to a construction zone, said the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Chardon Post in a press release.
The Cruiser struck a guardrail, drove off the right side of the roadway and overturned, patrol said, adding Yale was trapped and had to be extricated by mechanical means, a.k.a. the “jaws of life.”
Yale was transported from the scnene by Middlefield EMS and then flown by emergency helicopter to Clevland MetroHeath Medical Center where she remains in critical condition, the patrol said.
Yale was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and alchol is not believed to be a factor at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
