GARRETTSVILLE James R. Eigner, 51, of Garrettsville passed away July 12, 2013, at Uni-versity Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 24, 1962, to Dr. Edwin (dece-ased) and Sibyl (Sloan) Eigner of Shaker Heights.
James was an over-the-road truck driver and a lifetime member of OOIDA. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, carpentry and his cats.
James is survived by his wife, Mary (Mino) Eigner of Garrettsville; sons, Henry, John and Ken, all of Garrettsville; and sisters, Jane Eigner-Mintz of Monterey, Calif., and Nancy (Phil) Gorjanc of Mayfield Village.
Calling hours were 2-5 p.m. July 14 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, where funeral services were held at noon July 15.
Burial will follow at Harrington Cemetery in Nelson Township.

Robert J. Marn
CHARDON Robert J. Marn, of Chardon, died July 5, 2013. He was 69.
Born in Clev-eland on Sept. 10, 1943, Robert was the beloved husband of the late Jane (nee Fleming); loving father of Robert (partner Michael Benoit), Laurie Preston (husband Jeff Jay) and Christine Harrell (husband Richard); devoted grandfather of Kai and Lexi Preston, Richard RC and Graeme Harrell; cherished son of the late Phillip S. and Phyllis (nee Hite); dearest brother of Marlene Suhadolnik (husband Bob), Phillip Jim (wife Audrey), Marjorie Kafka (husband Paul), Lillian Steele (husband Chuck), Terry Polsak and the late Phyllis Honey Kramer and Linda Pennington (husband John, deceased); dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Bob was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. A graduate of St. Joseph High School and Cleveland State University, he was the CFO for The Chilcote Co.
Bob was a former member of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church when he lived in Euclid and then joined St. Mary Catholic Church when he moved to Chardon in 1999.
He was active in the Munson Township Park and Recreation Board, Habitat for Humanity and the VASJ Endowment Board.
In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, car restoration, gardening, travel, walking and listening to music.
He will be remembered as a family oriented man who was organized, hardworking, sensitive, kind, had a great sense of humor and valued spending time with his family.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bobs memory to American Red Cross, American Heart Association or the United States Lifesaving Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. July 13 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon. Burial with military honors followed in All Souls Cemetery.

Christine Park
CHARDON Christine Chris Park, of Chardon, died July 12, 2013, at Univer-sity Hospital in Cleveland. She was 62.
Born Feb. 10, 1951, in Chardon, she had been a lifelong area resi-dent.
Chris will be remembered as having a great sense of humor, being caring, generous and a loving friend to many.
She was a wonderful caregiver to many area residents.
Chris is survived by her sisters, Kathleen Hill of Chardon and Sandra (Mitchell) Frania of Highland Heights; brothers, Jim (Laura), Tom (Deborah) and John (Gail), all of Chardon; six nieces; 12 nephews; and many grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one niece; and brother-in-law, Dan Hill.
A graveside service will be held at 3:15 p.m. July 19 at Chardon Municipal Cemetery on Park Street in Chardon, with brother Tom officiating.
A memorial gathering will take place from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

John William Brindo III
HIRAM TWP. John William Brindo III, of Hiram Tow-nship, passed away July 10, 2013, at University Hosp-itals Geauga Med-ical Center in Claridon Town-ship. He was 62.
John was born on Jan. 19, 1951, in Chardon, the son of the late John and Mar-garet (nee Kuehn) Brindo Jr., at Cory Hospital.
He was a 1969 graduate of Chardon High School and graduated from Bluffton College in 1973, with a bachelors degree in business administration.
John was a graduate of the Lakeland College Police Academy, class of 1974. He proudly served 39 years as a police officer, detective and deputy sheriff with the Geauga County Sheriffs Office, the Garrettsville Police Department, the Hiram Police Department and the Orwell Police Department, presently serving with the Garrettsville Police Department, Badge No. 912.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 70 in Portage County and then Lake-Geauga Lodge No. 16. He also belonged to many other fraternal organizations.
John was a certified police academy instructor and commander for more than 25 years for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy in numerous police academies throughout Northeast Ohio.
He felt the high point of his career was being awarded the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal for his involvement in returning a kidnapped 8-month-old baby during an Amber Alert Investigation in 2006.
He was also awarded the Law Enforcement Purple Heart for injuries sustained in a shooting in 1985.
John’s community involvements were varied. He was a firefighter/EMT with the Hiram Fire Department, Hiram Township zoning inspector and served two terms on the Hiram Township Zoning Board of Appeals.
He was also a Master Mason with Garrettsville Lodge No. 246 and a past member of the Hiram-Garrettsville Rotary Club and a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts of America.
John was the owner of Northern Portage Weaponry and instructed firearms to the public for many years for the Ohio Carry Concealed Program.
John was a history buff and really enjoyed researching his genealogy. He was a Life Member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Samuel Huntington Chapter in Painesville and a member of Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, James A. Garfield Camp No. 142, Cleveland.
His fourth great-grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War and his great grandfather, John Kuehn, a German immigrant, fought as a sergeant in the infantry during the Civil War, 9th. OVI from Ohio. John was proud to have had possession of his sword.
John is survived by his wife, Nancy Ida Dye Brindo, whom he married May 20, 2003. His first wife, Karen Wizner Brindo, died in 1999.
He is also survived by two brothers, Jay (Beth) Brindo and Jan (Becky) Brindo, both of Chardon; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were July 16 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, State Route 44 at the corner of 4668 Pioneer Trail in Mantua, from 6-8 p.m.
A graveside funeral service was held at 2 p.m. July 17 at Fairview Cemetery in Hiram, conducted by Rev. Roger Norton, Matt Ryser and Geauga County Sheriff Dan McClelland.
Procession to the cemetery formed at 1:30 p.m. July 17 at the funeral home, with a Police Honor Guard Escort, and Police Honors presented at the cemetery.

John L. McCaskey
CHARDON John L. “Jack” McCaskey, of Chardon, died of lung cancer on July 13, 2013.
He was born on May 16, 1940, in Cleveland and attended St. Joseph’s High School. At a football game, Jack met 15-year-old Patricia “Pat” Marie Toth. They married in 1958 and began a family in 1959.
After delivering newspapers, pumping gas and tending a nursery, Jack began his industrial career at Cleveland Twist Drill.
He completed his Bachelor of Science degree after 10 years of night school, his master’s after another seven. He worked in industrial engineering for several firms, advancing from machinist to head of sales and contracts at Acme Cleveland.
Throughout his career he also taught engineering at Cleveland State University.
In retirement, Jack became active in politics, launching programs to register voters.
He is survived by five successful entrepreneurial sons, John, co-founder of Epiphany, Inc., Chuck, contractor and founder of Mountain Hawk Tools, Inc., Jim, founder of McCaskey Landscape and Design, LLC, Dan, Geauga’s leading realtor, and Dave, proprietor of McCaskey Development, Inc.
Survivors also include Jim’s wife Ronda and Dave’s wife Donna; five grandchildren, Tim (Krystel), Caitlyn (Mark), Nicole, Noah, and Ethan Jack; one great-grandchild on the way; and brother, Donald, and sisters, Joyce McFadden and Debbie Simpson.
And Jack is survived by that young heartthrob of his, who he adored and cherished for nearly 55 years. With her he reared the five boys, helped launch her career as a real estate broker and shared countless vacations. No words can say how much she will miss him.
The family received friends on July 16 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the banquet room at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon.
Funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. July 17 at the Church of St. Mary. Rev. Dan Redmond officiated, assisted by Deacon Ed McCarthy.
Burial followed immediately at Chardon Municipal Cemetary.

Frances C. (nee Rice) Snodgrass
Frances C. (nee Rice) Snodgrass, a homemaker, died July 15, 2013 at Hospice House in Cleveland. She was 82.
Born Nov. 15, 1930, in Clarksburg, W. Va., to Horace and Nellie (nee Jenkins) Rice, Frances had been a longtime Geauga County resident.
Frances Rice married Jimmie Snodgrass in Angola, Ind., in 1955. They owned and operated the Viking Restaurant in Chardon for six years. He preceded her in death Jan. 19, 2003.
Frances is survived by her children, Jimi (Mary) of Lyndhurst and Cynthia (Jerry) Commisso of Concord Township; grandchildren, Jennifer (Joshua Lemr) Fielder of Concord, Ernie (Sarah) Fielder of Mentor and Nicki (Chris) Wilkes of Geneva; great-grandchildren, Madeline Claire Hadorn, Noah Ross Hadorn and Liam Franklin Fielder; and longtime friend, Marylou Richardson of Chardon.
She was preceded in death her parents and husband.
Visitation was 5-8 p.m. July 17 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

Kathleen Y. Pachnowski
MADISON Kathleen Y. (nee Paranish) Pachnowski, of Madison, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Lantern of Madison. She was 74.
Born March 8, 1939, in Clymer, Pa., to Metro Spike and Margaret (nee Lezart) Paranish, she had been a Leroy area resident before moving to Safford, Ariz., in 1987.
A homemaker, Kathleen enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph, of Madison; daughters, Beth (Jack) (nee Prindle) Daniels of Bend, Ore., and Terry (Michael) Shaffer of Munson Township; granddaughter, Lynn (Dave) Peterson of Middlefield; great-grandchildren, Curtis and Jaxin Peterson; and sister Mary Ann (Hal) Dietz of Willoughby.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; sister Jane Nellis; and brother, John Paranish.
Private family services will be held.

James Robert Pinter
TITUSVILLE, FL James Robert Pinter, 68, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013.
Born Oct. 17, 1944, in Warren, he resided in Middlefield until the age of 21.
Jim graduated from Card-inal High School in 1963. He was an all-star athlete in baseball, football, track and basketball.
Following high school, he became Ohio state trooper until he served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired with 20 years of service in 1985 as a Master Sgt.
Jim continued to work in security for the Kennedy Space Center until 2000.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting, working in his shop and spending time with family, especially his grandsons. He was best known for his sense of humor, which included the wiggling of his ears.
Everyone thats ever known him was drawn to his kindhearted personality and felt that he was the type of man that every boy wanted to grow up to be.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sharon (nee Crites) Pinter of 17 years; daughter, Donna (Barry) Pinter Thompson; son, James (Kristy) Pinter; step-daughter, Mechelle (Mike) Akers; step-sons, Brad (Sharon) LaWarre and Robert LaWarre III; grandchildren, James Gregory and Jonah Steven Pinter, and Michael Akers; sisters, Donna (Larry) Sanislo and Sylvia (Boyd) Croft; uncle, Forest (Anne) Klingman; and three nieces, one nephew, numerous cousins.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. July 16 at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. July 17 at the funeral home, with military services and burial following at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
