“I know our son (Joe Peters) would be very proud.” – Joyce Peters
The total cost to cover all pay-to-participate fees for fall activities at Cardinal Schools this year was $98,712.
As of Aug. 9, that amount is paid in full.
Tom and Joyce Peters, along with the athletic and music boosters, presented a nearly $100,000 check to Superintendent Scott Hunt at the Aug. 9 board of education meeting. The donation effectively reduced pay-to-participate fees to zero for fall.
Money was raised through summer fundraisers held by the music boosters, the athletic booster car raffle and proceeds from the Joe Peters Memorial Pig Roast.
“I know our son (Joe Peters) would be very proud,” Joyce said at the meeting.
Hunt said the community’s fundraising efforts exceeded everyone’s expectations.
“There aren’t enough words to express are sincere gratitude to everyone who supported our kids and their efforts to raise money,” he said. “Thank you.”
