Though originally scheduled for March 19, sentencing for Hiram resident Patrick Dowling has been pushed back to a later date.
Dowling faces fourth-degree felony charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and disrupting public service, as well as two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, both first-degree misdemeanors, and one count of driving without an operator’s license, a minor misdemeanor.
The charges stem from an incident in the fall of last year in which Dowling allegedly stole and drove a Community Care ambulance from the University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center while intoxicated in an attempt to go home.
He pleaded guilty Jan. 21 to grand theft of a motor vehicle and driving while under the influence. In exchange, the state agreed to dismiss the remaining counts at sentencing, according to Geauga County Court of Common Pleas records.
Dowling’s original $7,500 bond, which had been continued, was revoked March 6, according to court records.
He is currently being held at the Geauga County Safety Center.
