The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 25 through July 31. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 404 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

July 27

3:48 p.m., Tavern Road, Burton. The residents next to the split rail fence always leave their dog out when it storms. The dog has no shelter and is tied up. Caller does not know the resident’s name and she is unsure if they are home. She was going to call the dog warden’s office as well, but would like a deputy to see if anyone is home and let the dog in. Deputy responded. The dog has a built in dog door to go in and out of the weather.

CITIZEN’S DISPUTE

July 29

2:03 p.m., Thwing Road, Chardon. Ongoing landlord/tenant dispute. The landlord continues to allow people on the shared property belonging to the complainant with no notification. Today, main-tenance and another group of unknown people entered her residence and accessed her basement. Caller is uncomfortable with the landlord’s practices and would like to speak with a deputy. Deputy advised. Landlord is not at the location and is refusing calls from the complainant. Provided advice to complainant regarding issues with her landlord and allowing repairmen into her area of living.

EXTRA PATROL

July 30

6:15 p.m., Hunt Road, Huntsburg. Caller states there have been a lot of Amish taxi drivers driving at a high rate of speed in the area lately. Caller states one almost hit him on his motorcycle recently and caller advised one just went by him on his tractor at a high rate of speed and almost hit him today. Caller requesting extra patrol in the area expecially in time ranges of 6-9 a.m. and again at 3-5 p.m.

MEDICAL

July 25

12:27 a.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Female having a panic attack. She is outside hitting herself and having difficulty breathing. Deputies responded. Female refused treatment and was requested to leave WomenSafe per staff members.

July 28

8:17 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. 70-year-old male found on the floor unable to get up and bleeding. Unknown where the injury is at on his body. Unknown how long the male has been down. History of diabetes and over 200 pounds. Deputy assisted paramedics.

NOISE PROBLEM

July 29

4:31 p.m., Ashwood Drive, Newbury. There is a live band somewhere on Ashwood Drive. Caller would like them to stop or turn it down. Deputy checked the area and located the source of the noise. Family was practicing their musical talents. Homeowner advised of the complain; stated that they don’t practice often. Noted, although noise was loud, no noise ordinances on record for Newbury Township. Homeowner advised they would only be another 45 minutes. Complainant advised of applicable laws for township.

SUSPICIOUS

July 25

9:39 p.m., Burton Windsor Road, Burton. Red minivan drove up and left something in the mailbox, then a silver van pulled up a few moments later and took something out of the mailbox. Caller suspects drug activity and would like officers to be aware and keep an eye on the neighborhood. Deputy responded. Checked mailbox and nothing was inside. The mailbox is at a company which is closed. Complainant will call if this continues and also asked for extra patrol.

July 30

9:58 a.m., Munn Road, Auburn. 15 to 30 minutes ago a hispanic male in his mid 30s came to the front door. We did not answer because our parents are at work. He then came to the back door and said he was our neighbor and he needed to use our phone. We told him our phone was out of order thru the glass. He left on foot. The kids called the parents and they told them to report it. Deputy responded. Unable to locate male. Main door in the garage was open, deputy checked the home. Home interior checked OK. Deputy was unable to close garage door. Request extra patrol in the area due to recent break-ins.

July 31

11:08 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Male laying in the road in front of Main Market Video. A car stopped and people got out and looked over him. Caller couldn’t give description of the car or person in the road. Deputy advised. Dog struck in roadway, owner removing injured animal. Complainant mistakenly believed person was lying in the road.

THEFT

July 25

6:07 p.m., Tavern Road, Parkman. Produce being taken, would like to speak with a deputy. Deputy spoke with complainant who said his produce stand, at the intersection of 168 and Nash, is coming up very short on money compared to the amount of produce taken daily. Complainant said he placed his child in the produce stand to watch the activity for the day. His son observed a taller lady with curls take a large amount of produce and only left $1 in the pay can. His son obtained a license plate and stated the car was small and white in color. The provided license plate does not match. The complainant is going to hide and watch for the lady to come back and get a correct license plate. He will then contact the sheriff’s office so a deputy can speak to her about this activity. Complainant believes it is the same lady who has done this numerous occasions.

TRAFFIC CRASH

July 26

11:27 p.m., Troy Oaks, Troy. Private property crash. Deputy located a crash on Troy Oaks Drive at the intersection for Cardinal Drive. The unknown suspect vehicle went off the road right, traveled through and damaged the grass before striking and running over the stop sign. Deputy followed the muddy tire tracks northbound on Cardinal Drive. Deputy checked all vehicles in the park and was unable to locate a damaged or muddy vehicle. Deputy collected pieces of the suspect car in case further information becomes available.
