The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 19-25. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 332 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
September 25
9:54 a.m., Bundysburg Road, Middlefield. There is a Amish horse down in the road. It appears to have had a heart attack. The Humane Society should respond because the horse is 30 years old and they worked it too hard. It is all sweaty. Troopers responded. Unable to locate any horse in the roadway.
DRUGS/ALCOHOL
September 21
12:24 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Highly intoxicated female. White female 20-30 years old, dark blonde hair, wearing jean shorts and a black T-shirt, fell over trying to leave the bar. Unknown how long she has been there. Manager is with her now. She is sitting at a booth. She was being disorderly earlier and tried to hit an employee. She is calm now, almost passed out. Deputy advised. Female was transported by Newbury Rescue to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center for treatment.
EXTRA PATROL
September 24
7:44 p.m., Country Oaks Trail, Munson. Juveniles that live down the street were in the area. Complainant was taking pictures of his light post for electrical work and they accused him of taking pictures of them. Complainant is now scared that they will come back in the middle of the night. Would like extra patrol. Complainant was also advised to call if he sees any suspicious activity. Deputy will conduct extra patrol throughout the shift.
HARASSMENT
September 23
11:49 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Female is receiving harassing phone calls from a loan company who continues to deposit money in her account without her knowledge and now wants the money returned. Female does not speak English, language line was utilized on 911. Female’s husband, who speaks English, will be at the location until 2 p.m. Deputy spoke with complainant who stated he believes a fraudulent loan company is attempting to coerce him into paying money for a loan he/his wife never agreed to or signed papers for. Complainant stated he read reviews about the company indicating the company is a “rip-off scam.” Deputy advised complainant to stop communication with the company and choose a better company to acquire a loan from. Deputy provided advise on how to check legitimacy of businesses for future reference. No crime committed.
September 25
6:25 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. The caller is being harassed by other tennants. Deputy spoke with the complainant who reported that numerous people are following him when he leaves his trailer. Complainant said they follow him to Walmart and when he comes out, the cars are still in the parking lot. Complainant also reported banging noises at night around his trailer. Complainant also reported property damage and traffic offenses in the park. Complainant also made a very similar report in Chardon City in May and June of 2014.
MEDICAL
September 19
7:03 p.m., Stoney Springs Drive, Claridon. Female is breathing but convulsing. Caller was advised to turn on the exhaust fan and open the windows in and near the bathroom. She was cleaning the bathroom when this occurred. Deputy responded. She is not bleeding. She is now on her side. She is not responding. The patient had back surgery a few months ago, but she does not think she is on any current medications. Assistance rendered.
SUSPICIOUS
September 19
1:30 a.m., Music St., Newbury. Caller received a phone call from her sister at this residence and she hears noises outside and thinks someone may be trying to get in. Her sister was afraid to call the police herself. Deputy advised. Unknown cause. No footprints in the dew of any kind located around the house.
September 20
2:12 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Occupied vehicle behind JD’s Posthouse. Deputy spole to two employees, info in radio log history, who said they were just talking after work. Deputy has never observed their vehicles behind this business at night though they said they are parked there all the time. Male had keys to establishment though they both seemed nervous, nothing further to hold for.
September 20
9:30 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Deputy arrived at Newbury High School and located a female and male in the parking lot. Upon approach to the vehicle both occupants were seated in the front seat. Both were interviewed separately and stated they had been involved in concentual activity. Deputy deployed his K9 for a narcotics sniff. K9 did show interest to the drivers side door by sniffing strongly to the seam but did not give a trained final response. Both were warned for being in the park after hours.
September 22
8:07 p.m., Nash Road, Troy. Caller advised that yesterday a tall thin white male came to her home asking for directions. She felt he was being suspicious by the way he was acting. She heard this evening that her friends on Mumford Road had their home broken into yesterday. The caller feels the male may be a suspect. The caller did not see the vehicle but her kids did. Deputy advised. Information obtained and will pass on to investigating deputy.
September 25
3:48 p.m., Rockhaven Road, Newbury. Female would like to speak with a deputy about a comment she heard from the neighbors that she believes to be threatening. She heard the one neighbor say to the other, “unless we do something about this we are both going to have our dogs taken away”. She believes this to be threatening in nature because one of the neighbor’s dobermans just killed her cat and the dog warden is still investigating the situation. She has previously had problem with her tires being slashed at this residence. Deputy responded. Part of a conversation was heard as a third party and believed to be threatening in nature. Spoke with the parties and no intentions of harm mentioned and the conversation meant for other was misunderstood by the party. On going neighbor issue.
TRAFFIC HAZARD
September 23
2:55 p.m., Madison Road. Around 2:30 p.m. today, the complainant witnessed the following vehicle, a truck, silver, tan or brownish in color, knock over all the cones on purpose. They were travelling south bound, the would also speed up. At the light at 608 about 500ft north of that intersection when they stopped for a green light. The complainant passed them and she turned right on 608 and then the truck rode her bumper and when she turned, they passed her and gave her the finger. She is refusing to give up the plate because she is afraid of them.
WEAPON OFFENSE
September 24
6:56 p.m., Bartholomew Road, Auburn. People are hunting at the state hunting area and they are trying to shoot doves and the pellets are coming across the street and raining down on my house. I told them this was occurring and they basically told me off. Bartholomew Road north side about 400 yeards west of 44. Deputy advised.
