The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 26 through Jan. 1. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 386 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Dec. 26

7:09 a.m., Mulberry Road, Munson. Dog put out every morning between 6 and 6:30 a.m., barking all the time. Deputy arrived on scene and observed two dogs outside, one which was barking. I spoke with the homeowner and advised him of the complaint. He said he understood and took the dogs inside.

CITIZEN’S DISPUTE

Dec. 30

4:43 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. People left with merchandise, threw $40 down on the counter. They initially tried to pay with an out-of-state check, which she refused to take. Caller advised the $40 covered the merchandise, but caller wants her items back and doesn’t want their business. Deputy responded. Caller advised they tried to run her over in the parking lot during their altercation. Not a theft. Other party has a receipt for the merchandise and they paid cash which the complainant showed receipt for. Middlefield Police stopped the other party and advised them that, per the complainant, they are not welcome back on the property. No crime committed.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

Dec. 26

11:47 a.m., Wye Road, Munson. Female called 911, thought her husband called to report her vehicle stolen by her daughter. She stated she gave her daughter the car to use and her husband advised he fake called the police and she would not give name or address. Stated we didn’t need to get involved in the family dispute. Female was very rude and would not give name and information. Deputy responded. Dispute over ownership of a car. No domestic issue and everyone checked OK.

Dec. 27

10:29 p.m., Lake View Drive, Newbury. Caller’s boyfriend is at this residence intoxicated and belligerent. There is a six-year-old child in the residence. The caller advised he is throwing stuff away. There is a handgun in the residence that he has access to. He has not mentioned anything about the gun tonight. He is on Adderall. He has PTSD from being in the military. He was in the Army. Deputy checked location and everyone was OK.

ESCORT

Dec. 28

7:35 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Female complainant wishes for an escort to pick up her children. Complainant states her children are afraid and upset with her ex-husband. She will be en-route to meet a deputy at Little Eagle. Deputy advised. Both parents advised there was a custody agreement in place. Father did not want child to leave. Father advised child was upset with house rules. Friend of child was at location and advised that she would stay and did not want deputies to call her parents.

FRAUD

Dec. 31

9:37 a.m., Basswood Road, Munson. Someone used my credit card to purchase airline tickets. The person is on their way to Texas right now. Caller is at work and would like a call. The airline, FBI and credit card company all referred caller to our agency. Deputy called the complainant’s listed number, but no one answered.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Dec. 27

3:45 p.m., Terrace Drive, Middlefield. The caller has custody of her 11-year-old grandson. He is unruly. He has been damaging the home and sneaking out. She wants to file unruly charges on him. He has not assaulted anyone at this time.

MEDICAL

Dec. 30

12:10 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. 36-year-old female hasn’t eaten for three days. She has a large growth on her groin. She is home alone. She is having an anxiety attack and that is causing her to have trouble breathing. Caller says Geauga Hospital hasn’t treated her well in the past. She was there for anxiety attacks. The groin pain and now the chest pain is bothering her the most. Deputy assisted the fire department.

PARKING PROBLEM

Jan. 1

10:04 a.m., Georgette Drive, Burton. Neighbor is parked in the road and I cannot get my truck and trailer out of the driveway. Deputy spoke with the complainant who advises this has been going on since summer. I also spoke with the owner of the vehicle who currently lives on Georgette Drive. Advised him to park the vehicle in the driveway, not on the road facing the opposite direction.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 29

1:03 p.m., Teal Drive, Hambden. Neighbor states that the door of the above address has been wide open for the last four days. He walked over to the residence and called inside with no answer. He then lightly shut the door. The other neighbor advised him that they have not seen anyone for awhile at the house. There are no vehicles in the driveway. Deputy secured the front door which was found wide open.

Dec. 29

4:20 p.m., Burton Windsor Road, Huntsburg. Female soliciting for advertising a few days ago, she called today. Caller cannot find anything on the Internet to verify her business. She has contacted other businesses in the area. Caller would like to talk to a deputy. Deputy advised. Complainant advised that he was concerned that a solicitor was trying to take advantage of him. He did not pay for any services nor is he interested. Complainant advised that he would let her know that he was not interested. I spoke with the female who advised that she would not contact him again.

Dec. 31

11:36 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Female in a small red car pulled into a driveway and went right into the yard. The female missed the driveway and ended up in the front yard. Deputy spoke to the homeowner who advised it’s OK as long as the driver gets a tow. Deputies transported the female driver to the house she was looking for. Driver will call a tow to get her vehicle.

Jan. 1

5:53 p.m., La Verne Lane, Hambden. The caller picked up his three-year-old son for visitation and the child stated the mom’s boyfriend has been hitting him. There are not any marks on the child. Deputy spoke with the complainant, who requested deputy not to speak with child’s mother. Complainant has spoken with child’s mother, who stated the child was not hit but put in a timeout because of child’s behavior. Advice given to complainant.
